American Express will be opening a pop up ‘Platinum House’ to celebrate small business Saturday (11/30 & 12/1), this will provide Platinum & Centurion cardholders complimentary access. Inside the popup will be small bites of food from Cote, Legacy Records and Wayan restaurants. In addition the following will be offered:
- Made Of protein beverages by Kirsty Godso
- Specialty cocktail using Gotham Greens by Viraj Puri
- Custom gift wrapping curated by Sarah Andelman (up to two gifts per person)
- Signed copies of More Than Enough and Meet & Greet with Elaine Welteroth (1PM to 3PM on November 30th – complimentary books will be available while supplies last)
- A local NYC shopping guide curated by Elaine Welteroth, Kirsty Godso, and Zanna Roberts Rassi
Platinum house will be open from 12PM until 5PM each day and is located on 5 East 17th Street. Platinum & Centurion cardholders can bring up to three guests each. American Express has done similar Platinum houses at Coachella & in London in the past. I personally think these are just a bit of waste of money and prefer that card issuers focus on benefits that can help all cardholders.
All that’s missing is a “meet the rat team”
Weird thing is that if you tell yourself about it, they ban you for life.
No shits, about to file that arbitration action myself.
Very interesting.
Elaine Welteroth is an extremely controversial figure (mostly due to her divisive, radical leftist politics), so I’m quite surprised that such a large national brand like American Express would want to associate itself with her.
Perhaps Amex will host a panel event with Angela Davis and Nicolas Maduro in 2020?
Interesting, I’ve heard of Maduro (venezuelan president), and Angela Davis (political activist, marxist) and I understand why those would be considered extremely controversial, but the first two pages of google of welteroth with “political” or “controversy” doesn’t really turn up much.
Anyways, this probably isn’t the place to cover politics, yours, mine, hers, or anyone else’s, but I don’t get the “divisive, radical leftist politics” controversy.
Agreed — Elaine Welteroth seems pleasant, bland, and speaks entirely in cliches. IOW she hardly has any content to be divisive.
The whole point is to feel like you’re part of some exclusive club. Too bad that the Platinum Amex is so unexclusive that practically anyone who hasn’t tanked their credit can get it. The only way a Centurion cardholder would go to this event is if his wife dragged him along. Status seekers. Welcome to our Brave New World
Any time I walk into a crowded CL I am reminded how exclusive card “membership” is 🙂
Sounds like marketing is like “Oh shit, they gave us how much money this year? Crap, how do we quickly waste a shit ton of it?”
Sound like someone who live too far away from NYC
Sounds like another NYC millennial who needs to feel “elite”.
“See my metal card collection!!!”
Useless comment above.
I remember when Mastercard had a lounge in Manhattan at Columbus Circle mall with free WiFi…a place to relax, on the floor above the mall concierge.
You did not need a premium card like Amex. My Mastercard debit card worked and also my USAA credit card.
Nice. Have business platinum. Will be there. Just free small bites ?
