Update 8/14/19: Reader Sam got an email today acknowledging the error and indicating it’s been fixed. Indeed their points are now showing. I assume this issue is now been fixed for everyone. (Update: not for everyone, apparently.)
[Update 6/18/19: According to reports on Milestomemories and r/churning, this issue has been fixed. Credit for missing months has NOT YET been resolved, but going forward, any statement closing should get the proper points awarded.]
Reader Bob reached out about an issue affecting the new American Express Business Gold card where the bonus points categories are not posting properly. The card offers 4x bonus points on your two top categories – out of a list of 6 – each month, and the bonus 3x has not been posting as it should for statements closing since late April.
As is well known, American Express rewards are delayed one month, with the points posting when the following month’s statement closes. Since the end of April, statements closing have not been showing the bonus points from the prior month as it’s supposed to.
You can read some discussion about this on this Flyertalk thread. Apparently, Amex is aware of the issue, but it hasn’t yet been fixed. I imagine it’s just a matter of time, but regardless it’s worth the headsup.
They credited me my missing points but it was such a pain to go line by line with a rep on all the transactions that didn’t get the bonus. Plus, after some investigation they decided that some of the small markets I go to are are not eligible for grocery bonus even tho they code properly as grocery. It’s also the same for some small restaurants in my area. They all code proper but I guess Amex is whitelisting some places to not get the bonus.
Points came in 2-3 weeks ago, but I’ve never gotten an email.
I received the email and missing points (that I never knew about) have been awarded. It shows close to 9K points adjustment.

I see my bonus points as pending when I check on membershiprewards.com, so it’s definitely fixed for some folks

I’ve had bonus issues on multiple Amex cards for years … all the way back to missing spend bonuses on the Old Blue Cash. More issues with Amex than all of my other cards combined.
Maybe that’s why I don’t bother with Amex anymore except to collect the lucrative signup bonuses.
Similar things still happening with the 3x dining in personal gold card. I just stopped using because every time I call in the only thing they will do is have me submit a manual form for EACH charge. Easy decision to cancel it once the fee hits.

The 4x maxes out at 25k spend, is there a way to find out how much of the 25k I have spent already? I kept looking around but couldn’t find a way, I must not be looking at the right place…
This is about business gold which has $150k cap for 4x MR. $25k is the cap for groceries for personal gold.
You need to click transactions tab on the website and select year to date.

I called about 2 weeks ago when i was missing about 3k MR from the 3x bonus on biz gold. The membership rewards rep was really nice and actually gave me more than double what i was missing.
