[Expired] [Targeted] Amex Offers: Save 10% on your Cell Phone Bill (max $20)

Deal has expired, view more AmEx offers by clicking here.

The Offer

Check your Amex logins for the following highly targeted offer:

  • Get 10% back as a statement credit when you use a registered Amex card to pay your cell phone bill online directly with a US-based wireless telephone provider. Limit of $20 in total credits.

There’s also said to be a similar offer showing on some points-earning cards which give points instead of a statement credit.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid through December 31st, 2018
  • Offer can be used in a single charge or across multiple charges
  • Offer valid for payments for wireless telephone service charges made directly with US wireless telephone service providers (via online, mobile app, or by phone). Purchases made with third parties, authorized retailers or resellers are excluded.
  • Excludes purchases for VoIP, hardware, equipment, and bundled home/cable services.

Our Verdict

We saw the same deal earlier this year. This offer is highly targeted, and I didn’t have any luck on this. Remember that most cellular companies will allow you to prepay your bill which means you can lock in the 10% discount for the future.

 William Charles  Chuck

Sent e-mail with verbiage about targeted offer up to $40 statement credit

FWIW to the poster’s that aren’t targeted – I checked for this one when it was at $20 – no dice but was targeted for $40- but it is a time a saver for multiple cards and P#1/P#2

Does anyone know if this works with prepaid minutes from Mint SIM? This is a cell phone service that uses the AT&T network. It’s not a monthly service plan; you buy x number of minutes in advance.

Maybe we could have a sub-page for these targeted Amex offers. They seem to just clog up the main page with things that won’t be applicable to most everyone. Well unless you are getting paid to post them.

I appreciate the posts. I dont often get them but I have gotten a few. 99% of the bank bonuses dont apply to me so I just ignore instead of bitching multiple times in the comments section

And I think most of the members of a churning style site have an Amex..

Well you could get them if you lived in the state where they are offered. And they are a lot more valuable. Offers like these are small value and not available to 99 percent of readers. I get Bank of America offers all the time and they are never posted.

Kinda funny, I don’t get 90% of the BoA offers posted yet get about 75% of the Amex offers posted. Of course, I have one BoA and 4 Amex. I don’t check either of them often, probably should, but Doc gives me a reason to.

I appreciate them as well. I’ve caught a few that I wouldn’t have known I had if it weren’t for the posts front and center.

People can scan their Amex offers themselves. Because they will have to do that either way.

I don’t check my Amex offers every day. Besides, what’s the difference of Amex offers being posted that aren’t applicable to everyone when majority of the bank bonuses are also targeted to limited states? Do they clutter up the main page too? I appreciate every post that DoC puts out there, whether I can take advantage or not.

I got this on PRG, but limited to $10 in credits.

I got the cell phone deal AND an almost identical AmEx deal for insurance on my BCP. “Get 10% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a payment on your insurance bill by 12/31/2018. Limit of $20 in total statement credits. See terms for additional exclusions.” The icon is a house, and the offer details don’t specify what type of insurance (e.g. homeowner’s, renter’s, car, health) qualifies.

Any idea if purchasing a Verizon gift card triggers the offer? I have prepaid too much on my bill to use this before it expires in December.

The AT&T $300 prepay is killing me. I got this one (Blue Cash) and I got the $50 back on $150 x 3 on two cards (separate users). First time in a long time that I have too many offers. I’ll count myself lucky.

AMEX just puts these out to get me to look through all my cards’ offers.

Most likely not targeted but I can’t resist checking anyway.
