Our Verdict

There was recently a targeted offer of $25 off $100, that’s just recently expired. The easiest way to cash out this offer is to purchase a  $100 Visa gift card on staples.com for $106.95 (That link contains our affiliate link; we appreciate if you use it.) You’d be making $13.05 profit per card + any credit card rewards you earned minus any fees from unloading the Visa gift cards. This won’t last long, so load it quickly – we’ve also tweeted it out to @dochotdeals (find out how to get instant notifications for this).

Staples also offers discounts on other gift cards, for example Gap gift cards are currently 20% off. Here are 14 things to know about Amex Offers.

Saw this on all of my AMEX cards via AMEX Offers also.

Staples.com used to allow split tender so one could buy, for example, a $200 card and split it amongst two. Do you know what happened?

Nick

Can you buy VGCs with Staples GC? If so, you can split tender that way

Radster

I just purchased one VGC using a CC and a pre-paid debit card. Not sure if you can use two CCs utilizing the same method at checkout.

got it on 10/10 this is awesome!

Don’t forget to check your Serve card for this offer.

Is there any reason to get a larger VGC, say a $200 for $206.95 or a $300 for $308.95?

Minimize out of pocket expense. Lets take the assumption that your credit card points are work 2cpp. $100 nets your $2 in points plus $13.05 in cash. If you buy a $300 gift card you get $6 in points and 11.05 in cash so you net ~17 as opposed to ~15. It really depends on what you value more.

Haha what’s the pun? Maybe I’m missing something……

true but then you have much more to liquidate… i’d say on most Amex cards it’s not worth doing, only SimplyCash.

Shouldn’t it be relatively easy to liquidate? i have been going to my bank (td bank) and have them run a cash advance on the cards. Never any fee and easy.

Is there any downside to doing what im doing?

My simply cash business cards are a no brainer. Probably will buy $300’s with my SPG cards. I think all the rest will be $100’s, but will mull it over more. I hate liquidating the $100’s and am accumulating a lot of them right now already.

You guys are leaving out the best option available- the $200s. These have the same $6.95 fee as the $100s and so are obviously better, free CC points. And they’re better than the 300s, since they’re $2 cheaper and most of the AMEX cards we’d use don’t have points worth more than 2 cents, except maybe SPG,

if you have an easy way to liquidate then yes, 200 are better but otherwise 100 are just more convenient for those of us who have to liquidate via organic spend.

Is anyone else having trouble with the multiple tab trick? I recently added the Newegg offer to all of my cards with multiple tabs. But, this morning it is not working at all with Staples or any others. I click the first one and then a second later the next and it says I already added the offer. I have separate online accounts for some authorized users, but it is a pain to have more than a few.

Any portal still working for VGC?

milesjjcc

Does multiple tabs trick still works for Amex?

Chris
Chris

when you say this wont last long, is it safe to wait to use it once u have actually saved it to each card?

Chuck

Yup, once saved you are good until the expiration.

Does anyone know possibility of buying ebay GC with Target GC in-store?

Aahz
Aahz

Yes, Target allows purchase of eBay (and other) gift cards in store with a Target gift card.

When I tried to purchase an Ebay Gift Card with a Target Gift Card at a local Target store last month the cashier called the manager and the manager said that they did not allow such transactions.

I even tried purchasing the Ebay gift card with some other products and the cashier did scan the target gift card and it did take off the whole target gift card balance from my overall purchase total (including part of the ebay giftcard) but the manager reversed it due to store policy.

Thanks for share, enrolled all cards with Twitter. Not sure if I want the hassle of small denomination VGCs or just do an easy in-pajamas straight resell at 86%. Might grab some GCs like Lowes and eBay I can spend organically also

Keith

86% resell for what?

Lantean
Lantean

i’m guessing Target GC

Is it common knowledge that these offers go away quickly? I had this offer available on 3 cards this morning, not anymore 🙁

The good ones go in a few days, and the great ones go in a few minutes. It’s amazing that it lasted this long.
