Apple Launches Veterans & Active Duty Military Program – Save 10%

Apple is now offering current and Veteran members of the U.S. Military, National Guard and Reserve a discount of 10% under a new program. For qualifying users that have recently made a direct apple purchase, Apple seems to be agreeing to refund the difference as well. Apple also offers the same program to students. Overall the 10% discount is less exciting than it sounds as it’s often possible to get a much bigger discount when you purchase from a third party retailer and that usually comes with the same warranty and benefits as well.

Its an OK gesture, but you’re usually better off waiting for sales on Apple stuff from other stores or AAFES for no tax.

I was trying to compare the prices and discounts for the veterans program versus the student discounts program, and if I’m comparing the same items discounted prices it looks like the veterans program is better than the student’s program. I was trying to compare MacBook Pros in my observations. It also says that the discount can be used for family members of veterans and active military so I’m wondering how that can be proven and the discount used by me with my dad being a veteran. Of course, I bought a new MacBook Pro computer in August during the back to school promotion and now they offer the veterans program which if it’s available for family members of veterans I could have taken advantage of that since my dad is a veteran. I bet it’s too late to get the price difference/refund. Oh well, maybe next time.

I actually bought an iPhone XS few days ago with the full price at the store. I just called apple. Customer service said I have to physically go to the store to return the iPhone and repurchase the phone in order to get the discount. There is no refund on the difference.

Man that seems stupid. I bought XS max few days ago as well. I would think they would rather give you the difference than have me return the phone and get another.

They have special stores with a setup like education store. There’s one for military and also federal workers (possibly more) if you google it. The iphone prices seem to be same as normal store though 🙁
