Our Verdict
This is a regular offer and one of the best offered for REDcard, previous offers can be viewed here. Sometimes we see $50 off, but that requires $100 in spend. Sometimes you can also get $4 via Swagbucks as well but not currently available. There is no hard pull for the debit card or reloadable card.
It seems Target now allows opening the card again every 180 days. If you closed out an old card and it’s been more than 180 days since opening the previous card, they should approve you for a new one. (Previously it was every 90 days.)
I can’t find the promotional “fine print” for the reloadable card, it has an asterisk but then it doesn’t take me to offer details
I got in the mail today and was gonna shop in store today
My reloadable card just arrived, but I can’t find any terms for the promotion. If I buy $10 grocery and take $40 cash from the register when I check out, would that qualify for a $50 coupon?
“The $50 transaction must occur in one transaction at a Target location or at target.com; if you get cash back at the register during your purchase, the transaction will not qualify for this promotion.”
Does the $50 attach to the target gift card and no longer is a paper coupon?
Debit card comes with a paper coupon. You scan it into your Target app. Single use. Online OR in-store.
Reloadable comes with nothing. You spend, then get a account credit 20-30 days later.

debit redcard aka Circle Card DP:
Opened 7/1/23
Closed 4/8/24
Removed listed debit RedCard from Target account 4/13/23
Applied/instantly approved 4/13/23 (used new bank acct cause had issues instantly linking previous one)
Just applied for the debit, and the application went under review. “Your application has been received and will be reviewed.”
I was expecting a denial in the mail, but surprisingly, received an email today saying the card is on the way.
Has anyone had success in getting the $50 manually credited if you signed up before the lifetime language for the Reloadable card was added? I opened the Reloadable for the second time before the lifetime clause was added, but I didn’t receive my credit and the representative that I spoke to wouldn’t budge
It was first reported on DoC that the Reloadable lifetime language existed 11/02/23 by a reader, depending on where you looked for the terms. That revision of the program was issued 10/30/23, per DoC timeline.
Based on that, good luck. I assume your opening was in Dec or later. I got lazy and decided not to pursue it… they got me & P2.
I opened my card on 2/5 and also didn’t get the $50 credit. I do have a screenshot that shows no lifetime language but contactus.target.com seems to only provide CS phone numbers, no option to submit a query online.
Are you planning to pursue this further? NDrew
Yes, I’ll try the HUCA method a few times. I tried calling back and spoke to someone in the escalations department who claimed it was bc they broke up my purchase into two charges that were below $50. He said he submitted a ticket and for me to wait about a week. I get a different reason for why the credit hasn’t posted from everyone that I speak to.
The ticket means nothing- others have reported they were given a ticket and zero response after three weeks. If you try to call back, they won’t even know a ticket number was issued.
They will not call you.

Who would the CFPB complaint be directed against? Target isn’t regulated by the CFPB, but the bank that issues the card wasn’t behind the promotion.

For this new Target circle debit card, when I click to apply, it goes to log in page for the target account. The target red card is used to separate from the target account. Now are they linked together?
They have started giving out instant debit card numbers, so you can go shopping sooner. Yay. (But not an instant coupon) AFAIK, there is no change in the program due to this. You still have to apply the mailed coupon that comes with the physical debit card to your Target Circle account..
It’s been 181 days since I opened the debit card last time, and I am considering applying in several days. I looked at the terms and conditions and didn’t see the lifetime language for the debit card like for the reloadable card. They don’t have lifetime language for the debit card, correct? Just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it.
Got approved for debit card today, 182 days after opening the last one and one week after closing it. Same email and bank account.
I applied for the debit card, forgot to thaw Chex, and got the 7-10 business days death sentence. How soon can I thaw Chex and reapply? Can I do it immediately?
They don’t pull Chex. Sometimes linking a bank causes an EWS pull, but AFAIK you cannot freeze it. You are sure it’s been at least 181 days since last approval? Maybe 182 since it’s a leap year?
Your calendar is broken… mangorunner

Doggone it, I realized that ten minutes after I posted, when I started entering everything into my master spreadsheet. I even have a column for “next available date”, but I failed to look at the spreadsheet before applying. 😜
I know you are right – they don’t pull Chex! I now know that I got the death knell due to reapplying too early.
Thanks for helping me pull my head out of my a**. I added “Apply to Target” on April 27 on my calendar, if the offer is still open.
