Avoiding Fees

You’ll need to keep this account open for a minimum of six months to avoid them taking the bonus back. There is a $4 maintenance fee, but this is waived on the same criteria as getting the bonus (just make sure you continuing doing this to avoid the fee).

Our Verdict

Unfortunately there is no data points on whether this is a soft or hard credit pull and if you can fund the initial opening deposit with a credit card. Update: A commentor has confirmed that it’s a soft pull and you can do $2,000 in credit card funding, this would add in an extra $40-$60 in profit if you used a card that earned at a high rate on everyday purchases. I’d recommend this deal for those who live in Arizona.  The upside is that direct deposit isn’t required. If I lived within the service area and I could confirm that this was a soft pull, I’d complete this offer. Here is how I would complete it:

  • Open account, do the initial funding with a credit card if possible
  • Add $2,000 in funds to keep the account fee free and trigger the bonus
  • Wait six months
  • Withdraw funds to regular checking account and close account

You could also do 10 debit card transactions to trigger the bonus and keep it fee free, but I’d much rather deposit the extra cash so I don’t need to worry about this (especially now that Amazon has made their minimum on gift cards $0.50). This deal hasn’t made our best of list because it’s only available to those in Arizona, but it has been added to our state specific checking promo page. There is also a $125 checking promotion offered by Arizona State Credit Union which we haven’t listed as this offer is better.

I signed up for this and found out: not a hard pull, can fund with credit card up to $2000 per account (checking and saving), you get the bonus within 24 hours. I just got mine!

I also signed up for this. Was able to fund a total of $2,500 with CC between savings and checking. Received the bonus within days; no hard pull. Thanks!
