Our Verdict

T-Mobile offers a similar freebie as well. Some people seem to be having issues with the site accepting their valid EIN, not sure why.

Does anyone know when the 30 days starts? I assumed it was when it was turned on. But maybe it’s on delivery? Or upon receipt?

Should be up on receipt. I did not open it yet and I got an email the assigned mobile number was terminated/disconnected and removed from my company account.

Finally got my device today after FedEx left the Next Day Air package sit in Ontario CA for a week, I’m in southern AZ. Anyway it’s up & working, lousy speed, also only 8mbps down. And there is no way to keep track of how much of the 50GB of data you’ve used – device doesn’t have it and when I tried to make an account at ATT.com by entering the device telephone # and my Zip it tells me the account is “locked”. Tried Chat to see if a rep can help me but no, you need to have an ATT account to use Chat, and I’m not going to waste an hour on the phone, guess I’ll just use it until stops working. As I’ve said a couple times here At&T can screw up anything.

I got mine quite a while ago but just finally tested it out just now. I ran a speed test a bunch of times and got 35-41mbps down and 15-16mbps up. I comment because after seeing a couple people here reporting 8mbps I wondered if it was throttled. I’m guessing in areas with high traffic it is deprioritized. I’m in a rural area so I got normal speed.

For reference, I get about 70-75Mbps down and 35-40Mbps up on T-Mobile 5G here, so the AT&T hotspot speed seems reasonable for 4G LTE.

Interesting. I’m also in a rural area, a 10 acre property in SE AZ. But I’m just a half mile from a US Highway with T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T towers (didn’t know there was a AT&T tower until I got this device). But for my rural area with low traffic data is highly prioritized. The AT&T hotspot is very consistent at 8-10mbps. On Verizon I have an employer provided Verizon iPhone that gets 35-40mbps, on Visible (verizon low cost subsidiary) I get 6-8mbps. T-Mobile works best for me, I get 25-30mbps down on T-Mobile Home Internet LTE service, on my Metro by T-Mobile 5G phone I get 30-35mbps.

Got the device yesterday and I am not impressed with the speed at all. I only get 8Mbps DL at most! I don’t know what is the purpose of this device. It does not support CA so maybe they just want to show how big their coverage is

Does the sim work if you put it in another data only device?

Ordered 2 with random EIN and different addresses.
Both are scheduled for delivery by FEDEX today.
Compensation for TMO not shipping my 2 free hotspots last month.
Has anyone successfully ported out the ATT hotspot phone numbers to Visible for their free phone promo?

Oh, that’s an idea, porting out the AT&T hotspot # for a free #, I’ve been buying a Boost mobile # on eBay for $6 when I need one for a cellular deal. Should work, but a free phone is the only reason to port to Visible or better yet get a $100 Visa debit card bringing your own phone with a port. I’m doing the BYOD for $100 GC, as soon it’s delivered w/2nd month service payment I’m outta there, Visible service is terrible for me.

Sorry you didn’t get the Tmo hotspot, worked great for me and Tmo was so good I went for their Home Internet, I get 30-35mbps on Tmo, lucky to get 4-5mbps on Visible.

I have old phones to swap with these new ATT numbers for new unlocked phones from Visible.

I should add that to port a # out you need your account # and PIN. Try to get that from device or AT&T website, you don’t want to call, they’ll know what you’re trying to do.

I’ve ported out many numbers from many providers over many years.
No worries.

How would one use this product? I have some property that gets good cell phone service, but there isn’t any internet available. Could I use this as a hotspot to connect my desktop computer and also a smart tv to watch youtube tv on my television?

Puck to desktop via data cable.
Puck to SmartTv wirelessly.
Free data allowance will disappear in days with heavy YouTube/streaming media use.
Enjoy.

Note: You can also do this with dedicated android phones and an unlimited data deal.

FYI, att finally fixed the issue of not accepting REAL EINs with a dash. But the whole thing is likely not checking any EIN database at all since 99-9999999 and 00-0000000 works/ed

Good, but that’s my impression of AT&T, they can screw up anything.

Don’t really need this, but after the nightmare experience of being an at&t customer, any bit I can get back from what they owe me, I’m going to jump on.

Anyone find one of these free hotspots that work internationally with a Google Fi SIM? The T-Mobile one didn’t and I’m not sure this will either.

I just got 20 free SIM cards from US Mobile with 1 month of 50gb data w/ free hotspot.

Going to do this 4 times too. Hopefully the sim accepts text messages

Have no use for the data but the USMobile sims give unique numbers that can be used for new accounts with Uber and DoorDash.

Usmobile.com

Code YOLO when ordering sims
Code YOLOACT when activating

They ship from Dallas, TX so you can’t do it anymore

I ordered a pack 4 days ago that’s stuck there with USPS. pack from 5 days ago made to Virginia. Each pack had 10 sim cards.

Thanks for the 411.
As you advised, did not find free hotspots via the link.
After 4 minutes browsing, I got a free sim popup offer and jumped on it.

@Swastik Agrawal
When I signup with a new number for Uber/Doordash/grubhub, it somehow detects that I am already an existing user even if I use a new credit card. How is it working for you. What payment method do you use at checkout?
