Aven Rewards Checking + Rewards Visa: 5% Back On All Purchases (Up To $25,000 Each Year), Requires $25,000 Balance

Update 8/21/26: Aven has reached out to clarify that the account the $25,000 needs to be in earns 0% APY. Autopay must also be enabled.

Consumers can earn the higher 5% cash back rate after depositing $25,000 into an Aven high-yield checking account within the first 25 days of opening the Aven Rewards Visa Card. The promotion offers 5% cash back on the first $25,000 in purchases made with the credit card each year.

This promotion requires a minimum checking balance of $25,000 every month and is maintained in an account that earns 0% APY.

Autopay must also be enabled to earn cash back.

Original post: Aven has launched a new credit card/checking account combination offering:

  • 5% cash back on the first $25K each year, then 2% unlimited (must deposit $25,000 within 25 days) and maintain a daily minimum balance of $25k
  • No annual fee
  • Premium metal card

The high yield checking account earns 3.25%, it’s not immediately clear if the $25,000 can be in that account or not? (Update: account earns 0% APY) Here is the breakdown:

  • If you put $25,000 into an account earning 5% you’d earn $1,250
  • If you had that in an account earning 3.25% you’d earn $812.50
  • If you had that in an account earning 0% you’d earn $0

You also need to compare the 5% earning rate to a card that earns 2-3% back on all purchases.

It also looks like you could potentially just spend $25,000 in a single calendar month and then move funds out, although it’s difficult to know if that is possible or not with Aven due to spending limits etc. Aven has launched some other interesting cards as well:

And the popular $5 weekly gift card deal. This new card is definitely worth a look and could work for some people.
