Bank Amerideals/Chase Offers: Save 5% at Airbnb, Max $28 Cashback

[Update 5/19/19: This deal popped up for me again today, this time with 6/29/19 expiration.]

The Offer

Check your Bank Amerideals for the following offer:

  • Get 5% back on your Airbnb reservation, with a $28 maximum cash back.
  • A number of banks use the same back end for these offers. This includes: Chase, Bank of America, Regions Bank, Suntrust Bank, BBVA, BB&T, PNC, Columbia Bank, Beneficial Bank, and Christian Community CU. You can read this post for more information.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid one time only
  • Payment for your completed stay must be made by 5/15/19.

Our Verdict

This one just popped up for me today. Airbnb discounts are always welcome, this one even has a decent $28 maximum. Max this out with a $560 stay; it has to be a single transaction for the full amount, according to the terms. Not sure if a gift card purchase would work.

Airbnb is shit. I would need 30% discount to deal with that shit

Last time there was some question about the completed stay language (ie if you had to complete your stay before the end date of the offer), but can confirm the credit for me went through immediately after the charge for a stay that was booked for way after the offer’s end date. Would love a data point for purchasing a gift card if anyone has one.

That’s weird. My offer stayed there after I paid with my card and even went expired, which I thought was weird. Called Chase and they asked me to wait the 7-14 days. Said they have no way of tracking it.

That sucks. I’m assuming you never got the credit for it?

I don’t think you can actually buy gift cards directly from AirBnb (or at least, it doesn’t look like you can on their gift cards page), so I’m not sure that there would even be a way to buy a gift card that would show up as a purchase from AirBnb.

Strange, right? What company does not want to sell a gift card for their own site?

This sums up why airbnb is shit. Their customer service is just complete BS. Passive aggressive nonsense of we really care about our customers.

This seems a lot like blaming Uber/Lyft for a murder because a girl got into the wrong car and not the sick predator that would have found a way to murder some other way. Wasn’t the whole Erin Andrews thing at a Marriott? I fail to see why individual behavior means the whole company/idea is “shit” but since you have posted twice in this thread felt the need to respond.

Disclosure: Don’t work for Airbnb or particularly care one way or the other for hotels over house rentals etc just this news story doesn’t really damn the company in my opinion.

I think there’s more to Debit’s story of his hatred for Airbnb. Perhaps he was the property owner that got banned for having a camera? lol

Frank

He just hates everything. Surprised he didn’t blame a political party given his recent comments…

A lot of the benefits of this get washed out when you compare rewards earn rate for the cards though
