Barclay Offers TripIt Pro Benefit for Arrival Cardholders

As we know, Barclay recently stripped some benefits on the Arrival Plus card. Besides for lowering the redemption bonus from 10% to 5% (today is last day to get the higher amount!), they also stripped the free $49 TripIt Pro benefit.

Cardholders are now receiving an email offering them this benefit for a year. Must enroll my 12/16/15.

It’s not clear that they are offering this as a permanent benefit. I’m going to guess that they are just trying to ease the transition period by offering a one-year benefit and that it won’t be offered again next year.

Also note that while the email mentions ‘new Barclaycard Arrival Plus cardmembers’, the email is being sent apparently to all cardmembers and signing up works to get the free subscription for everyone. The email seems to be sent out in batches; some may not have gotten it yet, but likely everyone will get it eventually.

Well, I signed up for the card in June and called to get TripItPro in July, and they said it was no longer offered. I threatened to go to the FCB since the benefit was offered when I applied for the card, so they reluctantly gave me 5,000 miles to shut me up. I guess to many people did that so they decided to offer it rather than continue to shell out $50.

Just downgraded from Arrival Plus to Arrival and now getting reminders from TripIt that my subscription is expiring… so is this being offered to Arrival cardholders (as stated in the title) or is it Arrival Plus cardholders (which is what it sounds like based on the body of the post)?

Why didn’t they do this sooner? My had already expired so I paid for it. Luckily TripIt was offering a discounted first year of paid membership to Arrival+ members for $29. I wonder if I can use this to extend my existing account by 12 months?
