Starting tomorrow select domestic customers will be able to apply for and receive the Barclays American Airlines credit card with instant approval and instant free checked bag & priority boarding from via kiosk SSM. I assume that customers will still be subjected to the standard approval process and things such as the 6/24 rule, although there is always a small chance that this isn’t the case. As part of the agreement Barclays has with American Airlines they have exclusive in flight and in airport rights to market the American Airlines card so it’s not surprising to see them try to improve the number of applicants they receive.

I read your article and its very helpful for me. Then they take your bag away and never return it.
Barclay vs. Citi. What’s Citi gonna do?
This is likely a smart move by Barclay and AA. It will reach a different group of people that the churners who hang out here. I can see people who opt for the card to save on baggage fees for the trip they are taking. Some will use and keep the card at the lower cost than churners.

Better ask Toby for permission first before applying
Nah, he will give you permission and then shut you down.
I got the application by a FA on a recent flight but got declined again. 10/24
I don’t understand the bad sentiment towards AA. I covet their miles for domestic flights alone. Great saver redemption awards.
I know service is lacking but not that much different than other domestic carriers.
As for the s/ds due to mailers, hard to get upset over that for me. I used two mailers. Not s/d yet but I won’t blame them if they do. Even though it will hurt losing EP that was gifted through Hyatt.
It’s more than service – its the cancellations and delAAys that would be avoidable if they had some form of labor peace.
Hardcore churners have a completely different mentality than a normal reasonable person.
Considering it’s Barclays, shouldn’t the title read “to roll out instant denials”
FA’s getting bonuses for in-flight apps will be p.o’ed.
Isn’t the hat tip on this article @xJonNYC the guy all of the Redditors thought was shutting them down?
Yes, he’s just an AA insider.
Does he work for AA, or is he just an AA aficionado?
AA needs to be sued for their credit card tactics and shutdowns of unprofitable customers.
