Our Verdict

This is the highest bonus we’ve seen on this card, previous best was 60,000 miles. Previously Barclays requested business documents, but that no longer seems to be the case. One nice thing about this card and offer is that it doesn’t report to your personal report, so won’t count towards your 5/24 status.

We’ll add this to the best credit card bonuses. As always if you have questions about Barclays credit cards, I’d recommend reading this post first.

note Barclay usually matches the offer if you were approved within 30 days

My card was approved on 4/26. I just called to match this offer, got rejected. CS suggested I call back in one or two weeks to match since they haven’t received any emails about matching yet.

J

I wasn’t rejected, but they told me to call back next week so they can get information about how to do the match since this transition did happen today.

Is this calling recon number or other?

call the number that is located on the back of your card or send SM

I called this morning; The lady said I need to call back in 7 business days because she will submit a note for reconsideration to match the actual offer.

I did call again and the lady said that they will submit a “research” for reconsideration of this new offer. Also mentioned that it would take one or two billing circles to show up if approved. It seems that they are not easily matching this new offer. Anyone had an experience trying to match with Barclay’s before?

Same thing happened to me the last time around. They increased the offer within a week. I did eventually get the matched offer, but it took FIVE months and repeated followups. You’ll probably have to be persistent. Also, make sure you’ve already met the spend requirement and have received the miles from the initial offer to make it easier.

How churnable?

They have gotten reaaaallll tight in the last year. Before that I probably got this card every 6 months. Last two attempts they stonewalled me both times. “Too many accounts with no balance” “too many accounts open in the past 2 years” etc etc Need tariff man to bring this next recession on stat so I can get my balances back up lol

Do business cards fall under the 6 card rule?

I think so. Got rejected last week by this.

What’s 6 card rule?

Barclays have 6/24, similar to Chase’s 5/24

Thanks. Too bad they apply this to business card…

Occasionally barclays approves anyway. I am somewhere around 15/24, and 6 months ago they approved the personal AA for the second time in two years, and they approved this business AA too for me just now.

14/24 – Rep wouldn’t even bother looking at my report. FICO was 820 with TU I asked them my credit score. No derogatory remarks. Straight denial. Not even a chance.

chong786
chong786

again, 6/24 is a soft rule. barclay usually pulls TU . If you are under 10/24 and your TU is clean , you have a chance

are business credit cards included in the 6/24 rule?

Satellite

There are two aspects of 6/24: do you have to be under it to get a business card, and do they add to x/24. They shouldn’t add to your x/24 as Barclays doesn’t report business cards to your personal report. However, based on other comments above, it seems you need to be under 6/24 if applying for a business card.

Is this a difficult one to get approved for or do I just need a pulse?

Anyone had luck getting the business card right after the personal one or do I have to wait 6 months as some suggest. I just got the personal one yesterday after it went to pending for a few days.

I had success opening a personal followed by a business 2 or so weeks later. I had to call recon and was grilled a bit on business info, why I opened another card so soon after the personal, etc.

Ric

I got the business card a week ago, and the personal is still pended.

Nice, just got approved, I am sitting at 5/24 (soon to be 3/24 in 2 months), so I figured biz card would be a good way to snag another bonus. However after approval I got a creditwise alert showing a pull; I’m assuming this is normal and will not count against 5/24?

Satellite
Satellite

If you used SSN to apply, credit pull will always show on your personal report. However, most business cards won’t be added to your personal credit report once approved (there are exceptions: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/which-business-credit-cards-report/ )

Michael S

Great, I saw that post, hoping those exceptions for barclay were reports in error.

I was just approved and was considering having player 2 apply today also. Is this a card I should wait and refer them to instead?

I have about 650 K AA miles, but all economy redemptions I check are useless to me. I have lots of international destinations that I’m interested in, but they all seem to require 30 to 50 hours in transit. That’s absolutely crazy!! Any way to get reasonable international routing with AA miles?

fly first class maybe? that’s what I’d do haha

Have wife and son to get tickets for as well and want a few trips, not one.

Thanks, Josh. Looking for 2020 vacations. Obviously, not finding any flights on aa.com. Any suggestions where/how to find flights?

BA.com. British Airways site has most of the Oneworld partner awards show in search. I use it to find awards to Asia in biz class on Cathay Pacific and Japan Air, pretty decent availability. Use it to find the award, then you have to call AA to book it.

I know everyone values miles differently, but how much is 75K AA miles worth on average? is it worth at least $95?

Ric
Ric

If you redeem for business class it’s around $1.4 and economic $1.1.
For me worth it because I use it a lot in staples and OD.

E
E

…yes. 75k AA miles is definitely worth more than $95.

Jinsoo

If you will ever travel through AA, Yes, absolutely.

playsgames

70k miles will get you a oneway biz class ticket to Asia on Cathay Pacific, they run $2k+ if you pay cash.

can anyone confirm what sort of info barclays will ask regarding business information?

thanks in advance. would it be safer to create a biz and get proper EIN to get approved for this card?

I applied with my dog-sitting “business” ($2k yearly income, in business 5 years) and was instantly approved for a $12k credit limit. I’m at 4/24 plus four business cards since November. Good luck!

did you honestly put your income at 2k on the app or did you bump it a little higher? just curious for my dog sitting business too

Barclays has a 24 month rule for same product, meaning u cannot get the same card/bonus if reapplied before 24 months after card is closed…..

Please clarify on this, card closed or card opened?

I have a question regarding business cards in general, not sure if there’s been a post already that addresses this. Is there any way for someone like me to be able to get a business credit card without actually owning a business? There are a lot of attractive bonuses that I’ve seen for business cards, but I haven’t bothered going for any of them since I’m not sure if it’s borderline/very not legal for me to pretend that I have a business for the sake of getting these cards. I have a small side hustle flipping stuff on eBay, but the money I generate there hasn’t been significant enough for me to file taxes on it, nor do I have any employees working for me. Thanks and sorry if this has already been asked/answered.

Tyler L
Tyler L

You need an actual business reported on your taxes. the good news is you could likely report on your taxes and owe very little if anything. eBay bus profit:
Selling price,
– price paid,
– eBay fees,
– PayPal fees,
– home office deduction,
– mileage if you drove to the post office.
= Profit or loss

Many small businesses have little to no profit , especially ones selling on eBay.

VL

Chase and Amex do not care at all about your biz. Easy to get their cards as a sole proprietor. Barclay used to ask for verrficarion documents (any would work – articles of incorporation, k1s, etc…), altgough Will said it has changed, but last time i applied 9 mo ago it was needed.

Not giving any advice here. Just stating the facts.
