The Offer
No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘Open for your special birthday treat’
- British Airways is turning 100 on August 25th, to celebrate they have sent out some members with the same birthday 9,000 Avios for free
Our Verdict
Unfortunately I don’t think you’d be able to change your birthday and still get the Avios. Seems odd to be sending this out to people just based on their birthday but it’s just a bit of fun. Not sure what the significance of 9,000 points is, I would’ve thought 10,000 would have made more sense? I’m mainly just posting so people don’t trash this e-mail as you need to register to get your points.
Hat tip to reader Mr Brown
Interestingly, that’s actually my birthday and has been registered on their site for years yet I didn’t get the email. When I use the link posted, it also tells me I’m not eligible. Pretty weird.
Your registration has been unsuccessful, unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer.
I got this email as well and was very pleasantly surprised!
Based on the targeted offers I usually get my birthday must be the same as the 99 cent store. 😦
Haha I’m 8/24 and just made an Avios redemption! Ugh
Well, Iberia had a promotion last year that gave 9,000 avios per ticket. Again, it was odd to choose 9,000 instead of 10,000 or 5,000.
I can’t believe that worked out for me! I never win anything! Thanks Doc for the heads up!!!!
I got this email yesterday. Nice surprise!
That is legitimately my birthday, and it’s correct on my profile, but no email for me. But there is a direct link, and I registered for it there: https://www.britishairways.com/en-us/executive-club/offers/birthday-bonus-avios
Terms specify it has to have been set as your profile birthday before Aug 15
