Bypass Chase 5/24 Rule On Business Cards With Black Star ‘Just For You’ Offers

Update 4/25/19: Many more data points indicating this is bypassing 5/24. Interestingly after applying some people are still seeing the other offers and have successfully been approved for a second card. For most people the other offers disappear after applying but that doesn’t seem to always be the case. Best idea is to still apply for the card you want the most first and then maybe you get lucky and can get a second card a swell.

It has long been possible to bypass the Chase 5/24 rule on personal cards by looking for ‘Just For You’/’Selected For You’ green check mark offers. Yesterday reddit user GR1022 saw an offer on a business card with a black star saying ‘For Business Owners’ when checking for Just For You offers. This offer has a fixed APR and despite being over 5/24 GR1022 & others (gofarhaveacigar & Pointsmiles) have been approved. I haven’t been able to independently verify this as the offers don’t show up for me, but based on the amount of datapoints this seems to be working. The offers look as follows:

Some other information:

  • These are showing up on personal accounts (not on personal & business combined accounts)
  • Standard offers are showing (e.g $500 on the Chase Ink Cash/Chase Ink Unlimited and 80,000 on the Chase Ink Preferred)
  • After applying for one card the other offers will disappear, so apply for the card you want the most first

I have a combined account and never get anything. How to separate business and personal account?

FreeIsGood
FreeIsGood

I had separate accounts, but still got business offers on my personal account. As of last week, business card now closed, so I’ll have to see what the offers a look like in the future. Right now I still have offers like business checking, but no personal CC’s.

I can’t find the link again at the moment, but I read in a churning/FT/etc discussion recently that a combined business+personal Chase login will stop working (like not even let you log in) at some point soon after you close your last business account, until you call in to get the logins separated back out. At least for that person, the separation did not happen automatically. So just a heads-up that could be in your near future.

Edit: I missed that you said you had kept your accounts separate. General FYI for anyone who has combined them, then.

I was just trying to see how to separate my accounts. But then I went to (on the page with all of your cards) the top left of the screen with the 3 horizontal lines (the HOME button). In the third section down on the left is the category “Explore Topics” and the first topic is the “Just For You” option. That took me to the page, for which I have no offers, lol. (I just got the new IHG card a couple of days ago.)

I got the same problem. I should have never combined. Ugh.

Call or SM.

Unfortunately SM doesn’t work for this – I tried that twice first before calling in.

I just sperated mine a few days ago and posted in detail I my comment on the personal just-for-you offers article. Short version: I just see the same thing I did on my merged account on both my business login and personal login.

PSA: Download all your statements if your paperless and haven’t done so already.

As well as screenshots of any important SMs, in the past they always disappeared and we’re no longer accessible or available.

Then 2 days later the Ink Business Cash card pre-approval showed up – applied with fixed APR and pending… im actually quite confident this gets approved too. Will report back

This did not work for me. Denied 7/24 and had the business cards in my just for you offers.

How come I never see any offers? Whether I login to my business account or to my personal account, I don’t see any offers, just links to generic Chase offers.

Same here. I’ve never seen an offer on either account. Then again, I have 9 Chase cards so that could be why.

I have only one business and one personal and I never see anything.

Make sure you have all your marketing settings enabled. I’d had some of mine turned off for years, recently realized the ramifications (wasn’t even getting most of the retailer cashback Chase Offers) and turned them all on, and started seeing offers a few weeks later.

Do you have all of your privacy settings set to yes or just the 4 under marketing settings? Anything else you’d recommend doing in terms of these?

Ann
Ann

I think it’s just the marketing settings, enable all of those.

Thanks for this! I just realized my marketing offers were off. We’ll see if something good happens now that they are on.

Same with me. Have never seen a Chase Offer. I’ve tried everything. Only thing I haven’t tried is to unlink/separate my personal and business cards – will try next.

I got an email that didn’t have any time fram but called the auto line and got a 30 day message… Over 5/24

Will you see these “Offers” both on a PC and your cell phone or one or the other? I know sometimes it will change up depending on what people are using.

I had the black star offer for the Chase Ink Business Card (80,000 points/$5k/AF not waived). The same offer showed on both my personal and business accounts. Applied and was instantly approved. I am at 22/24. Offer did show an interest rate, 18.24%.

Denis

Congrats and thanks for the dp!
I personally would not dare to apply to a chase card being at 22/24 🙂
how many of these 22 are chase cards?

Rob
Rob

4 Chase cards in the past 24 months.

Was a little gun shy after getting rejected with a ‘green’ offer 2 weeks ago. After reading, I said why not. Clicked on the black offer and got a message that it was under review. Called immediately and was approved. I saw a fixed rate of 18.24. so happy to have my first biz card for my new venture starting this summer. Thanks for the great info and insightful website.

II have two separate accounts one for personal one for business is it possible to combine both into one account I never knew that I thought you need two separate accounts

Ann
Ann

Yes, it’s possible, but has some side effects. Call or SM to request combination. But you lose access to Chase Pay, possibly Chase Offers (the retailer-specific savings), and maybe something else I’m forgetting; and your online access will get screwed up if you ever close your last Chase business account.

I only have a personal account, and only have the new CFU offer showing up. 🙁

Jordan

Same with the combined accounts. If I don’t have a personal card that earns UR and I unlink my ink from my personal accounts, will my freedom cards then earn cashback?

Ben
Ben

Freedoms do earn UR, you just can’t transfer from them to partners, only to other Chase cards (or cash out, or shopping).

Checked my wife’s account and she had it, chose the 80k Ink and she was auto approved. She’s 15/24 and it had a fixed 18.24% APR. Thanks for the post Doc never would have checked otherwise!
