Some readers successfully applied for the new SPG Luxury card during the the three day loophole. After applying and being approved, they have since been offered an upgrade offer of up to 100,000 points for upgrading the regular SPG card to SPG Luxury. We’ve discussed why these upgrade offers are worth a second look, but it’s mostly because the annual fee is prorated and you still get the $300 credit in the first year.
The big question has been: can you get the standard sign up bonus and the upgrade bonus? We now have confirmation that this is the case. This shouldn’t be that surprising as upgrade offers have always bypassed the one bonus per lifetime rules in the past but given how close together the sign up bonus and upgrade bonuses have been it’s nice to have confirmation.
