Our Verdict

The terms make it very clear that you have until the 26th to get this card if you have/had the Chase cards, yay! Sign up bonus is 25,000 points less than rumored. The card does come with a $450 annual fee, but that is partially offset by the $300 in credits you receive each card member year (these can be used on room rate charges). Card also comes with lounge access and a number of other benefits. Some people will find this card worth keeping long term as it also comes with a free night certificate good on a property costing up to 50,000 points.

Overall I think the card is worth picking up for the 100,000 points and benefits now if you won’t be eligible after the 26th, just keep in mind applying for this card will make you ineligible for bonuses on other Chase cards. Long term I think we will see a higher bonus than 100,000 points, it feels like a weak offer especially when the basic SPG cards have offered the same similar bonuses in the past and Marriott cards have offered even more. Maybe after the 26th the bonus will increase?

Can someone share which of the Marriott hotels sell Marriott gift cards? I can’t find any. This is to trigger $300 Marriott credit. I am asking about Marriott hotels in Bay Area.

Just received the welcome bonus today. However, the 5K spend on the card gets 0 points. Is it just a technical error ? Any DP ? It shows base SPG Luxury spend -0 points….

Doc, I applied for this card thinking I would be turned down instantly due to the 5 credit card limit Amex has. I was instantly approved (I was logged into my account during the application and did the app from an IPAD). I was unable to link it to my current amex login and I was forced to create a new login for this card. I applied this past Friday and received the card today (Tuesday 8/28). The loyalty number says “Not Available”, the card shows member since 2018 but the new login reflects 2000 which is correct. I also got a 5K bump on the credit limit from what was said on the initial login to what it is now. Not sure what is happening, but hoping to still qualify for the 100K bonus.

Applied on 8/24, denied for too many cards (5), had to close BCE and then put my application into recon. Is there anyway to check if I am eligible for the sign up bonus?

I applied on 8/25 at literally 11:50 PM. Was given the “14 day notice” response instead of instant approval. Found out 20 minutes later at 12:10 on Sunday 8/26 that I was approved. This worrried me since it crossed the 8/26 threshold so I called today after receiving my card and confirmed my account shows as eligible for the 100k bonus (note: just opened Marriott Premier Plus last month).

The restriction language noted that “applicants” must apply by 8/26. So my guess is the bonus screen is happening at the point of application (hence the “not eligible for this bonus” notice) and if you applied before 8/26 you should be okay. That being said, I’m just one anecdote so who knows…

When I signed up for the card it said nothing about an APR offer but the card just came today via UPS and the letter inside says the card has a 0.00% introductory APR through your billing period that ends in September 2019. Did that happen with anyone else?

I applied on Saturday and told to call back today. I have five Amex cards and they approved me BUT would not guarantee I get the signup bonus. I have all the cards that would disqualify me but they refused to tell me either way so I did not take the approval.

When I went to apply after logging in to my AmEx account, I was given an offer of 0% APR for 12 months. But when I used a referral link from my spouse, the 0% APR offer went away. Even though I ended up using the referral link to apply for this card, I haven’t seen any other comments about this being part of the welcome offer.

I received a (targeted?) offer for 125k points, valid until 12/31. Wondering whether to go for it
