The Offer
No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. Subject line should be ‘Earn up to $30 when you tap to pay with your <cardname>’
- Capital One is offering a $10 bonus each month you tap to pay at least three times. Each transaction needs to be for at least $1.01 or more
The Fine Print
- This limited time rewards offer runs from October 1, 2018, 12:00 a.m. ET, to December 31, 2018, 11:59 p.m. ET (Promotion Period), and is valid only for those account holders that received this promotional email.
- This offer is non-transferable to any other person or Capital One card account.
- If you upgrade or change your account to another credit card product, or if your account becomes delinquent, closed, restricted, over the credit line, or otherwise not in good standing, you will not be eligible for this offer.
- Qualifying cardholders are eligible to earn one (1), one-time $10 statement credit upon completing three (3) Qualifying Purchases each calendar month during the Promotion Period, for a total of up to $30.
- For this promotion, Qualifying Purchases are defined as contactless purchase transactions made using your eligible Capital One contactless Visa card at a contactless-enabled checkout terminal.
- To qualify, the transactions must: (i) be completed as a contactless transaction using the contactless Capital One Visa card; (ii) be identified as Qualifying Purchases as determined by Visa; (iii) post to the Capital One Visa card account referenced during the Promotion period; and (iv) be an amount of at least $1.01 or more.
- A Qualifying Purchase will be based on the date of the transaction and does not include pre-authorization transactions.
- Your Capital One Visa card account must remain in good standing in order to receive the statement credit.
- Returns for credit and purchases made through digital wallets, such as Apple Pay and Android Pay, are not Qualifying Purchases.
- Qualifying Purchases made by authorized users on your account will count toward this offer, but only one statement credit each calendar month during the Promotional Period will be applied to your account.
- The card used to make the third qualifying transaction will receive the statement credit.
Our Verdict
Not as easy as the $25 for adding a card to Google Pay, but still a relatively easy bonus to reach the requirements for.

This is back for me today (11/1) William Charles Chuck
Listen up Comrades….the $10 reward is an experiment. Eventually, the card shall be replaced by a only chip inserted into your finger and hand. Keep on tapping.
I learned how to use tech that teenagers don’t know. 8 out of 9 said, “I think you need to swipe or insert card, what the.. Wow! How did it do that?” +$30 & fun.
P.S. I never got the email, this offer came on a billing statement insert.
just got my $10 bonus for October by using the card 3 times at the local grocery store. credit appear 2 days after transactions cleared
FYI, there is a link in the email to sign up with VISA to get real-time text notification to check your progress for each month. I received mine right after making the purchases.
easy money, can’t complain :))
I never received an email promotion but I did get my $10 this month for tapping the card 3 times (which I did not know about). I called CO to see why there is a $10 credit on my card and they could not verify why the merchant put a $10 credit on my account. Then I g00gled the merchant while on the phone with them and we figured it out together that they were running a promo.
For anyone with any type of AT&T service, the wireless stores have self-pay kiosks that accept tap pay. I just did 3 $1.01 payments to fulfill this month’s requirement and will do the same on Nov.and Dec.
Hoping that this will work with Samsung Pay as well.
I just realized this wasn’t related to mobile wallet at all!
Nope, says in the fine print…
Returns for credit and purchases made through digital wallets, such as Apple Pay and Android Pay, are not Qualifying Purchases.
Yea, I should have paid more attention! I guess my mind was biased because of all these mobile wallet bonuses in the recent past.
Anyone have any idea whether paying through a mobile wallet (Apple/Google Pay) would work?
Returns for credit and purchases made through digital wallets, such as Apple Pay and Android Pay, are not Qualifying Purchases.
had a previous tap to pay offer from August for $25 after 3 uses, it appears my “taps” weren’t really taps, bonus never posted, so of course have to actually call CapOne and spend 20 minutes getting shuffled around and put on hold, and then given to a manager, who can only put in a request to the award department, and maybe I’ll get it. I actually prefer shiti to this.
My wife get this email, but I don’t.
