Our Verdict

We saw the same offer at the end of last year/start of this year as well. If you spend the full $50,000 required you’ll earn a total of $3,000/300,000 points ($2,000 bonus plus $1,000 from the spend itself) that works out to be exactly 6% back. We’ve seen offers of  $500 after $5k spend, and $1k after $10k spend as well. Capital One business cards also report on your personal credit reports, which is important for anybody worrying about Chase’s 5/24 rule. They also pull all three credit bureuas.

Capital One miles are now transferable to transfer partners (2:1.5 unless otherwise stated)

  • Aeromexico
  • Aeroplan (Air Canada)
  • Alitalia
  • Avianca
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Emirates (2:1 rate)
  • Etihad Airways
  • EVA Air, Finnair
  • Flying Blue (Air France and KLM)
  • Hainan Airlines
  • JetBlue (2:1 rate)
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways
  • Singapore (2:1 rate)

Capital One occasionally offers transfer bonuses as well. A lot of spend required for this offer, so won’t be attractive for most readers but if you’re able to generate a lot of spend then this might be a good offer for you. We will be adding this to our best credit card bonus page.

2000 Sb DoorDash deal

Is this churn-able? just closed one two months back.

Ryan

It should be as long as the businesses have different EIN. But I didn’t close any cards, so not guaranteed in your case.

Dubya

Cap1 has become very anti churning lately. They have been rejecting people with high scores if their internal system flags you

Zub

Yes it is. Got approved today for another Spark Cash with the $2,000 bonus, and I actually still have the other Spark Cash I opened in January 2019. Will close the first just as soon as the second one arrives.

Benz

Did you apply with a SSN for both? Or SSN + EIN? Even though you got approved for a another Spark, how do you know the 2nd Spark will earn a bonus?

Hetty

Cap1 has a 1/6 rule, so you would have to wait 4 more months before applying again.

Will there be a referral post for this offer?

Any Cap1 problems at Simon?

bax

Cap1 is definitely aware of what we buy at Simon (Level 3 data?). Someone from their Loss Prevention dept said to me, unprompted: a lot of people buy gift cards there, it’s very lucrative, etc.

EyesOnThePoints

Any strategies on getting approved? Sadly, I have been denied twice when this was out earlier this year. Any advice for me please would be greatly appreciated. 11/24.. Prob too many cards huh?

I’ve cycled my 11k CL with SM purchases of 10k+fees immediately after payment clears, probably 20 times by now; never a call or denial.

IME, x/24 has little to do with approval at Cap1. They want to see you keep “healthy” amount of balances on your existing CCs, but not “too high” for their taste.

Dubya

well the data says otherwise. there are lots of post here and r/churning that suggest they have a 10ish/24 rule. Good luck

I applied last week for a Cap1 card (I currently have another Cap1 business one that’s about a year old). I was denied for too many accounts opened recently. I was at 4/24 when I applied (have since moved to 7/24). Gonna try this one as I didn’t move on it last year.

Very tempting for another denied.

I’ve found there are conflicting reports of whether this is MC or Visa in the past. Any insight?

Visa

12% return if only spending $5,000 is super tempting….but damn that tripple pull is such a turn off (even double if I freeze 1 bureau)

yeah . triple bypass surgery is no fun..im passing, but also on the fact, they deny on even the best credit scores sometimes…

Missjenniferd1 🦉 🦁

Yep, ive never been approved with them. Tried three times over the past 10 years….. Fool me thrice… There wont be a further attempt ever in life!! Once was even in response to a pre-approval letter solicitation… that was the third time!! Dont believe a word of it!!!

Anyone getting the cellphone verification error?

Geng

Avoid using Google voice number if u did

Zub

Got the cell phone and it kept saying it couldn’t verify my actual cell number. It then said i have to call in once the credit card arrives to verify my identity

I’ve gotten the $1k bonus in 2017, and $2k bonus in 2018. I knew the 2018 bonus was coming so I was prepared (closed old account ahead of time).I predicted this bonus would come too, unfortunately I thought it would be a month later. I will probably cancel my card after I pay it off and go for the triple dip.

Benz

Are they fussy like AMEX if you close it before the 12 month anniversary?

JT

No

How about filing for an income tax extension with pay1040.com, paying slightly less than $50k, and then filing taxes shortly thereafter? Should be about a $1000 moneymaker.

How do you redeem miles? Do you have to use their portal, or can you make a purchase on hotels.com, southwest.com, etc, then redeem?

Lrdxgm
Lrdxgm

There are two cards.

With Spark Cash the reward is.. you wouldn’t guess.. cash.

With Spark Miles, you can redeem as statement credit after travel purchase (hotels.com / southwest.com like you said) or transfer to airlines.

bax

You can redeem against an single travel purchase, over and over, so no need to spend to the full bonus miles’ cash-equivalent amount to redeem.

so 300k is like 225k to lifemile?

I’ve had both of these cards for my business for a year or two now using my SSN and the businesses EIN. Does anyone know if my wife can sign up using her SSN and this EIN and still be eligible for the bonus?

Zub
Zub

Yes it works. I signed up my wife and listed her as a “Partner”, and then added my info as an owner with more than 25% of the business

You can even apply fir yourself again even if you still have the card, provided your last Cap1 credit card application was more than 6m ago. I did and got approved for a second Spark Cash, and I still have the first Spark Cash open

Jake
Jake

Thanks Zub! I may just apply myself then since I just got two southwest cards earlier this month fo my wife

ray

Can you have two SPARK MILES cards? and get the bonus for the 2nd one too?

Zub
Zub

Yes

Would stack nicely with the Simon 1k VGC “promo”. I paid the $59 annual fee on the 1k CB/10k spend Spark. Wondering if I could get in on another (would be my third ever Spark, and second active one). I think I’ve read some here have two Spark cards concurrently. Of course, would have to do it after Chase CIP and/or Chase CIC.
