[Expired] Capital One Spark Cash $2,000 Signup Bonus & Spark Miles 200,000 Signup Bonus (6% Back) [Last Days]

Deal has now expired, view the best current credit card bonuses by clicking here.

Update 1/7/19: Capital One has told affiliates that this deal will end on January 28th, 2019. Keep in mind sometimes offers are still available after the affiliate link end date, but I wouldn’t rely on that. In addition Capital One is usually better about pulling offers than other issues but YMMV.

The Offer

Spark Cash signup link | Spark Miles signup link

  • Signup for the Capital One Spark Cash card and get the following bonuses:
    • $500 bonus after spending $5,000 within 3 months
    • an additional $1,500 bonus after spending an additional $45,000 within 6 months ($50k spend total)
  • Signup for the Capital One Spark Miles card and get the following bonuses:
    • 50,000 miles bonus after spending $5,000 within 3 months
    • an additional 150,000 miles bonus after spending an additional $45,000 within 6 months

Card Details

  • Card earns 2%/2x on all purchases
  • Annual fee of $95 is waived first year
  • No foreign transaction fees

Our Verdict

The cards always earn 2%/2x on all spend, and you’ll get that on all your spend, on top of the bonus. In the end, you’ll land up with $3,000/300k after spending $50,000 ($2k bonus + $1k from regular 2%/2x earn) which is a 6% return on spend. Previous standard offer was $500 after $5k spend, and we’ve seen $1k after $10k spend as well.

Personally, I think I’ll pass so as not to have to deal with all the spend, but this is quite a nice offer for someone with lots of spend they do anyway or has creative ways of increasing their spend.

Capital One is a bit of a downer since they pull all three credit bureaus. You can somewhat limit this by freezing your TransUnion or Experian reports and they will just pull Equifax and whatever one you didn’t freeze (note: some have had problems with this method). I still think this is a strong bonus, plus, hard pulls are becoming less of an issue for most people with other issuers cracking down on how often you can get a sign up bonus.

We’ll add this to our list of the best business credit card bonuses. If you have any questions about Capital One, please read this post first.  Capital One business cards also report on your personal credit reports, which is important for anybody worrying about Chase’s 5/24 rule.

Capital One recently added transfer partners which makes their Miles card the better option for someone who wants to use this toward travel. If you don’t travel at all, you’ll be better with the Cash card since redemption on the Miles card might be difficult for you. Here are the Spark Miles transfer partners, transfers at 2:1.5 ratio:

  • Aeromexico
  • Aeroplan (Air Canada)
  • Alitalia
  • Avianca
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Etihad Airways
  • EVA Air, Finnair
  • Flying Blue (Air France and KLM)
  • Hainan Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar Airways

Would love to see this deal come back. Cap1 has been cutting their sign-up bonuses. This went away, Venture cut from $750, Savor cut from $500…

Reading through the Guide to Benefits on this card and I am surprised to see it offers Price Protection and Primary Auto Rental Coverage. I chatted with an agent to confirm and he confirmed the benefits. Sweet!

So I got a funny situation with this one,

I initially “applied” in november when the offer was for $500 after $4500 spend, they asked for more documentation so I just let it sit there and was no longer interested. When the other bonuses came up I got the miles one and re-sent the paperwork for this one. They pulled credit again and got approved during the time period of the $2000 offer
I called them up and they’re investigating to see the dates etc if my application is valid for the $2000 and are supposed to contact me back within 10 days
Any suggestions?

Instant approval for $10K credit limit based on credit scores 760-780, business income a little over $30K, combined income $82K. 07/24, 01/12, 0/6 (not counting other business cards) No prior relationship with CapOne.
I applied last night after midnight EST (ugh) with offer still showing on the splash page. Anybody know the likelihood of the bonus eligibility being applied to my account? Should I call to ask or wait to see if a bonus posts after spending $5000?

I just applied 1/28 on the last day for the Spark Miles card and got instant approved. No current relationship with capone, last card I had with them was several years ago. I am at 2/24 now, 760+ credit scores. The CL is pretty low at $10k, but it should be enough to meet the min spend. I have been out of the creative “spending” for more than a couple of years, need to find out what works now. VGC/Serve/WM?

Also, should I apply for the Venture card today to combine pulls? I have a mailed offer for 60k miles for $3k spend. Not sure if that is worth taking my 4th slot of x/24 or better to go for a Chase card first and then venture today? What are my chances with no other capone relationship? Any tips would be much appreciated.

didn’t really have good experience about getting approved by Cap1 but decide to give it a try again! instantly approved for the spark miles card with 5k. Credit is 750+. First Cap1 credit card. Had 2-3 new credit cards opened in last 6 months.

Applied and insta-approved for Spark Cash card. Sole-proprietor. Credit is mid 700’s. Have long history with Cap1 though.

Figure I’ll need to MS about 25k over next 6 months. Really haven’t dipped my toe back into that for a while after redbird went by the wayside as I never had a goal to meet quite like this. Going to have to figure out what still works nowadays.
