Cardcash/ABC Now Accept E-Gift Cards with No Deduction in Payout

Cardcash and ABCGift Cards are now accepting electronically submitted gift cards with no reduction in payout.

In The Complete Guide to Selling your Unwanted Gift Cards for Cash, we detailed which gift card exchanges will allow us to sell the card electronically and which require physical submission. A year back, only Saveya and Raise allowed electronic gift cards at full price; Cardpool and Cardcash/ABC deducted 5% when submitting electronically, and Giftcardzen did not allow e-gift cards at all.

A lot has changed over time. Giftcardzen also changed some time ago and began allowing electronic submission. They also increased their velocity threshold up to $600 per week.

Cardcash and ABC Gift Cards are now showing the same payout rate for electronically submitted gift codes as for physical submission.

Note that you should compare rates between Cardcash and ABC to check which has the best rate; while both are the same company, the rates vary a lot between the two. Seems like ABC is 5% higher at the moment – these things vary a lot and probably won’t hold true forever.

Not all gift cards will be able to be submitted electronically. Notably, gas gift cards always require physical submission, and there are others as well. It also varies somewhat by the exchange.

The easiest way to see whether you can submit a gift code electronically is by checking out the rates on Giftcardwiki or Giftcardgranny. Both have tools to show if it can be submitted electronically. Note that I’ve found them to be wrong on this from time to time.

Tried selling a $5 gift card, a few hours later they rejected it because their system flagged it. Then, sold another card, mailed it in, they receive it, and then flag it for high risk??? Customer service cannot do anything and will tell you it is not you, it’s just their silly overlord system that is trigger happy and cannot be tamed.

Bought 2 $100 TGIFriday’s e-gift cards last Friday from ABC for $146. Had dinner w/ large group and gave both GC’s to pay. One had zero balance. Contacted ABC right away. Received a statement credit today on the CC I used. They refunded me for both cards totaling $146, even though I told them just one card had zero balance. Ended up w/ a $100 TGI card for free.

What are the velocity limits for ABC? I have a stack of $5 Kmart GCs I have leftover from holiday reselling.

I have A LOT of them. Can I do $1,000 in a week or should I space them out more?

I tried selling $600 worth of cards this week to them in e-card format – all from 1 retailer – and they came back a couple days after i uploaded them and told me that the cards have been flagged as high risk so they don’t wanna buy them anymore. its crazy because i’ve done sales with them in the past. I asked if they wanted to see my receipt from the purchase and any other info they would like to verify they’re legit. I even have my credit card on file per normal standards. nothing. really sucks.

Same thing happened to me this week with 3 @ $150 Staples gift cards originally purchased from Paypal Digital Gifts. Flagged as high risk. I do have a relatively short history with ABC. I wonder whether ABC would have bought them if I had sold them one by one? I will try this in the future.

Fortunately I found another buyer.

All the GC resellers are shady. SaveYa was good for me…until they weren’t. I sold them two cards which were immediately zeroed out by whoever bought them…then the purchaser claimed the cards arrived that way. SaveYa charged MY credit cards the face value of the card + a fee even though I wasn’t responsible for anything (which at worst would have been the discounted price of the card). It’s like how Ebay and Paypal side with the buyer 100% of the time. It’s all shady business…I’m getting pretty tired of all the scams with online business.

I’ve sold them a bunch of cards in the past couple weeks and I’ve gotten notification that several of my orders have now been “Escalated” and now they want my driver’s license. Not sure I trust this company anymore. Hope I get paid. Definitely concerning.

is $500 sell a lot? they asked me for DL when I crossed that threshold in one day? not impressed. I have dealt with them before but was always around 2-300 at most on one sale.

What do you suggest with this guys? give it or not?

No ACH payment on e-gift cards though.

The question with them is whether they pay you out at all. I had good experiences with them as a bulk seller….until I didn’t. And when it goes south, it goes south really fast. Check out their BBB rating. Think Jersey boiler room.

Well that’s concerning… i thought ABC was one of the ones that was pretty good about getting you paid relatively fast (unlike gift card rescue that I’m still waiting on payment for from early December….)

Yeah, Gift Card Rescue is basically a criminal enterprise.

ABC/Cardcash is totally lacking in ethics and incapable of keeping an agreement. One of their favorite tricks is agreeing to a price, putting your order in limbo for several days with no response or action and then resetting their payouts on the cards during the interim right before cancelling your transaction. We’re talking about 20-25% drops in payout. If you call them on it, they basically shrug.

They also sell a fair number of fraudulent cards and aren’t exactly on the ball with refunds unless you document meticulously and follow up.

I’ve also sold about 25K to them and that went OK until December when I sold them an order of physical cards that they still haven’t paid out and refuse to respond to me on even status of the order. Had to file with FDIC and am still waiting.

Their basic front line support people are efficient and honest, but their bulk seller personnel are sleazy. They’ve effectively created a closed loop in that department where they handle and suppress their own complaints. Attempts to get around them or over them are pretty much fruitless.

I’d strongly advise people look to Gift Card Zen or Cardpool. They’re not perfect, but at no time do you feel like you’re dealing with sleazebags.

Gift Card Zen constantly denies my sell. They are quite picky about where you get the gift cards and how much inventory they have. They could just cancel your sell order even if you successfully submit it online. Any suggestion on how to sell gift cards to them smoothly?

GCZ is very picky and pretty fraud sensitive. Generally, if you see a huge spread between the card you’re selling and their offered price, you’re likely to only get 1 or 2 through before rejection. They also actually care where you get your cards.

I just sell them high demand cards via PayPal or direct from retailer and don’t try to be very aggressive with respect to arbitrage via other 3rd parties. They also seem to deal better with you as your history with them grows.

They can be very frustrating, but they’re not going to flat out steal from you and lie about it. In this sketchy world, I’ll take that over ABC/Cardcash any day.
