Cardless Discontinues Boston Celtics/New Orleans Pelicans Card W/ No Notice

Cardless has sent out an e-mail to some cardholders informing them that their card has been discontinued effective immediately. E-mail is as follows:

Hi <name>,

We’re reaching out with an update about your Boston Celtics Card. Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue this card.

As of today, your account is closed, and your card can no longer be used for new purchases. We understand this news may be disappointing, and we want you to know we’re here to help make this transition as smooth as possible.

Here’s what you need to know

Using your card
Your card will no longer work for new purchases.
If you have subscriptions tied to your card, please update them to avoid any disruptions.

Accessing your account
You’ll still have access to your account through Cardless (using our app or online). You can go here to make payments, view your transaction history, or download statements.

Making payments
Currently your card has a balance of $xxx, and you’ll remain responsible for making payments. Interest rates and fees may still apply until your balance is paid in full.
If you have autopay set up, your payments will continue as scheduled until your balance is paid in full.

Redeeming rewards

Your rewards balance will be redeemed automatically as a statement credit redemption and applied to your account. If your rewards exceed your balance, we’ll process a credit to your bank account on file. Please do not make any bank account changes while the transaction is being processed. It may take up to 5 days for the funds to reflect in your account.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the number on the back of your card, or by emailing us at [email protected].

If you have any questions or need assistance, our team is ready to help. Don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to make this process as straightforward as possible.

Sincerely,
Cardless

This seems to be affecting:

  • Boston Celtics
  • New Orleans
  • Liverpool
  • Cavaliers

Very strange to discontinue a card with no notice and offer no conversion option.

This applies to the Manchester United card as well as of Fri 3/24. Same language on the email as described in the article.

“We want to make this transition as smooth as possible:”

1) your card is closed
2) pay us
3) you’re welcome, goodbye!

Bizarre- Cardless have a one card per lifetime rule, you would think they would try to product change people to a different card.
It seems most other banks are able to monetize their user base, so not understanding how cardless is failing so bad. Maybe they should rename as clueless

I mean, can we honestly say they DIDN’T warn you, with their company name?

Kinda like how Michael Jackson warned us with Bad and Dangerous, etc.
