Our Verdict

Normally this would be a great offer, but you can currently get 100,000 points after $2,000 in spend by calling in. Personally I think that offer is significantly better than this offer, but this offer does have a lower minimum spend requirement of $1,000 and also a $50 statement credit instead of the extra 20,000 points plus you don’t have to apply by phone. I still think everybody should apply for the other offer instead of this one, but maybe this is of some use to people. You can read more about Chase cards generally here. I’ll add mention to this in our best credit card bonus list.

  1. T says:

for reference, the cheapest buying 20k points has been is $92 IIRC.

spending an extra $1k for $42 of points, interesting, but not a huge difference.

  2. Jon says:

I’m guessing I might be able to SM to the 100k or this one if I just opened the IHG card? (past ~1-2 weeks)

  3. Joe says:

Just applied the 80k one without $50, any chance they’ll match?

  4. hwan says:

I am curious… I just cancelled my IHG card a month ago…… received my bonus more than 24 months ago… is it likely to get approved for the same card after cancelling merely a month ago??

    • Smitty says:

I’m interested in the answer to this as well. Would also like to know the recommended wait time between cancelling the card and applying for a new one also.

      • Dan says:

I can answer this since I just did it. Wife and I both cancelled 1 week ago. Got the bonus ~ 26 months ago. Able to reapply for both with instant approval.

  5. Prasanna says:

Does calling IHG and applying for a card surpass 5/24?

  6. Justin says:

Tried to get matched twice.. no success. Sad!

  7. Craig says:

Tried calling and Secure Msg to get matched to this offer. Both times I was told this cannot be matched. I recently got approved for this card (45 days) and was match to 100K successfully.

  8. Mj says:

Thanks for posting this. I almost applied from the IHG site and it didn’t have the 50 attached yet. I was approved for my highest limit yet, good lord.

  9. Lona says:

I called Chase about this card last week to find out what bureau they pull from. Standard “I don’t know” response and I also asked about applying over the phone. The representative told me the applications could only be done online. I don’t know if anyone else has had that type of response or not from a representative so I thought I’d share.
I did apply online, waiting for response.
Question: for those who have been approved for this card, what was your score and what bureau did they use?

  10. Matt says:

Where do the IHG points get posted to? Don’t see it anywhere on the chase portal. Also signed up on the ihg website but the account didn’t seem to ask for an ihg card to link to the account so how would it know how many points are awarded through the ihg card?
