Credit Card Offers

[No Longer Working] Calling IHG Can Get You A 100,000 Point Offer On The Chase IHG Card

Unfortunately this method is no longer working.

The Chase IHG card has had a targeted bonus of 100,000 points after $2,000 in spend for some time, the problem is that the offer is targeted. After the offer was launched it was possible to apply for the 80,000 point offer and then get matched to the 100,000 offer but that didn’t last long. When I was on vacation reader David A mentioned that he was able to get the offer by calling IHG and asking about their credit card, this also worked for reddit user zXFDz. The process should be something along the lines of this:

  • Call 1-888-897-0083 & ask about the Chase IHG card
  • The above number is for IHG, they will state they need to transfer you to Chase
  • Once transferred they will offer you the 100,000 points after $2,000 in spend
  • You apply over the phone

As always please confirm that you’re actually getting the 100,000 point offer before applying. Keep in mind this card doesn’t fall under the Chase 5/24 rule. Please share your own experiences in the comments. Now that we have some confirmations of this successfully working I’ll add it to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Does it fall under the 2/30 rule?

Do you know any Chase card *not affected* by the 2/30 rule?

Yes all Chase cards fall under the 2/30 rule

What if you apply for 2 Chase cards in 30 days period (let’s say united and CSP) but only one of them is approved (united), can you also apply for IHG in the same period or it will auto decline as you need to wait 30 days?

To spend the bonus points…. are these available as a cash reward/bonus or only for hotel or travel ?

These points are only good for stays at IHG hotels. The points aren’t worth much, maybe .4 – .5 cents/point.

A basic Holiday Inn that I can get for $90 cash rate is about 20,000 points, although some redemptions are worth more, others are even worse.

The card really isn’t worth using after getting the bonus. I keep it just to get the free night for $49/year so it’s like get a room night for half price every year.

I use the free night at the Intercontinental in New York.

So if I have this card currently, can I get matched? Or this only for new apps

I’ve had success in the past applying for a second IHG card under the same name.

As always on matching, you have to be your own DP as YMMV.

Call them, be a DP, let us know. 🙂

I applied this morning using the above instruction and got the 100k offer after 2k spend and additional 5k for adding AU. I am lol/24 and got 2 weeks message.

Do you know if they are still willing to match the 100,000 offer for people that recently got approved for the 80k offer? I read on another blog that they may have quit doing that.

I’ve sent Chase a few secured messages about being bumped up to the 100,000 point offer. (I am on the 80k offer currently)

I’ve been rejected all three times stating that it wasn’t currently available for me at this time. Now I’ve only recently received my card so I’m not sure if that is an issue or not. I doubt I will try again as hitting 2,000 minimum spend for me in 3 months might be difficult.

Any possible chance with Chase for a 2nd card with the other still open?

If so, would the 2nd annual free night be given or should one open a second IHG account?

I would love it if so, but don’t think you will be approved. If so, I love my $49/night once a year and would take 10 of them if I could. I have used 4 nights so far on it and average room rate was probably almost 400 for those nights.

also–IHG redemptions are all over the place on value which is great. You can shop through their many and usually find a bargain.

And the annual free night in NYC ! 2 years ago I used mine at the Crowne Plaza Times Square on New Year’s Eve.

Spent 10k points at a candlewood suites in indianapolis, pretty clean, most redemptions were 15-20k in small-medium sized US cities.

Applied two months ago @ 60k, got bumped up to 80k no problem.

Rep refused to bump me up to 100k @ 2k spent

Not worth it.
The basic offer of 80k+5k($425) for $1k(>40% return) on spend is decent. The additional 20k(about $100) for an additional $1k(10% return) on spend is not worth it unless you’re planning of spending an additional $1k in an IHG properties anyway.

haha. is that how you analyze a point deal? based on ROI? thats why you MS instead. $1k extra is marginal. but its all based on your capacity to MS and other crap going on in ur life so thats your own call. up to you.

Are there still ways to MS? I used to do a ton of MS, but seems like the only thing left nowadays that can be done here is to buy VGC at staples.

Very temped, but we just got a BoA Merill+ card, which needs $3K in 3 months. So if there is a good way to MS, I would so jump on this!

Just got the card too. Look up PNC 300$ checking bonus. I am considering to open an account with them and you can fund it up to 2000$ with a credit card. One person just said it worked for him with the Merrill + card and another one I am waiting to hear from is doing the same thing.

i mean there are always ways to MS. it just all depends on your locations. some people have no trouble at Walmart. they can walk in like criminals and nobody gives a damn.

What does MS stand for?

Applied tonight at around 7.30 pm CST. The offer details are as described above – 100k after $2k spend and additional 5k for AU, no annual fee first year. Got a 2 weeks message.

Same here. Applied 9/23, 00:05. Got 2 weeks message.

Does this 100k offer come around often? Don’t have any travel plans this year. Do you think it will come back again next year?

I applied for this offer earlier today via phone as the instructions above recommended. I was offered 100k pts after 2k spend and 5k for adding an authorized user, no annual fee for the 1st year, and 2 week message. Thank you for the heads up on this offer!

Just got my 100,000 points posted to my account. Interesting the extra 20,000 points posted at qualifying points. It just bonus points towards spire elite.

Have a basic question – most of these cards have minimum spending limits to get the sign up bonus. Does paying rent qualify as a purchase or does it have to be actual purchases ?

Or else, what is the best way to get these spends without actually needing to buy stuff we don’t need ..

Appreciate advise.
