Chase Ink Preferred No Longer Earning 3x On Plastiq

Unfortunately it looks like the Chase Ink Preferred is no longer earning 3 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 spent on Plastiq payments. Transactions before August 16th still earned 3x, whereas those after this date are only earning 1x. Feel free to share your own data points in the comments, especially if they aren’t consistent with the dates discussed above.

For future owners, let me say something short for you: NEVER USE PLASTIQ!!!

My payment was never delivered. My Tesla sale representative sent me the transaction history record every day to confirm with me. I had to file multiple complaints on BBB and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I was almost hiring a lawyer to file a claim against their business. If you go to BBB, there are plenty of people who stepped on the same trap with me through the paid article from Business Insider: https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-travel-rewards-credit-card-plastiq-2018-6

Attachments below are my complaints with them. They still have not resolved my issue. Is it worth for you to go through this whole process like me? Don’t, don’t ever use PLASTIQ!!!

Wow, this really sucks. This was my #1 source of points. I would pay a few people’s rent on my CIP through Plastiq.

Damn! Terrible timing for me! I just got the CIP and am trying to hit minimum spend 🙁

You can still use it to hit minimum spend. It’s just a slightly less valuable method now.

Fackkkkkk. There goes my 30k/month of UR points (well, it will now be 10k/month if I stick with it). But that’s a huge loss and will def make me consider moving my MS to my Amex EDP for the 1.5x multiplier. Especially now that we just lost KE as a UR partner and rumors of them joining Amex MR

Is there any other credit card earning >1% on Plastiq?

Citi double cash and tons of others.

Thanks, but nothing greater than 2%?

Well if you listen to some above, 1 UR point = 10 cents, so you’re actually earning 10%!

Realistically, your best bet now is AmEx BBP, which earns 2x MR points on all spend up to $50k (and is no fee to boot). You might also be able to make The new Barclay card work, but IMO it’s not worth the hassle.

Citi double cash or Capital one Spark will give you 2% cash back on Plastiq.
Amex Business Blue will give you 2 MR points on Plastiq which is definitely more then 2% Cash back and that’s what I’m gonna start using from now on.

You’d be an idiot if you pay $200 for 10,000UR every month, though.

If I had to pay the fee, sure. I’ve got way too many fee-free dollars so for me it’s only an issue of figuring out which card gives me the best rewards at any given point without concern of cost. Up till now it’s been CIP for me simply due to the 3x multiplier. Might be Amex going forward but TBD

My CIP statement date was Aug 17th and I received 3X on all my mortgage payment. Shall I keep using the CIP and hope the miracle for the next month, or simply go back to my checking account…? 😎

Just as another person posted for a trxn on 8/16… i made $4-5k transaction with CIP on 8/16 (unbeknownst to this new rule) and it gave 1% not 3% cb. I got raped. Boo.

🙄 If you’re not comfortable with the possibility that it may go through at 1x, don’t use Plastiq. It’s that simple. Comparing it to rape is beyond absurd.

Oh wow. I pay rent with Plastiq every month and loved the 3x UR points and used them for Hyatt.
Oh well, I will have to use the Amex blue business from now on for two MR points.

Same. $10,000 at Plastiq meant a Hyatt Cat 7 room at $250ai. Sigh. I’ll be missing that.

More restrictions at Plastiq on use of Amex than use of Visa. Even if there weren’t, 2x MR points strikes me as barely north of break even.

Just great. I was recently approved then shut down and finally reinstated. Perfect. Slim chance 3x comes back, but unlikely after hearing about that MSNBC business insider article. Crap.
