Our Verdict

Fry’s does sell gift cards and sometimes they are even on sale. Not the most exciting Chase Pay promotion but should still be useful.

RESOLVED: the issue with Chase Pay “not authorized”.
Background – at the beginning of the promo I went to a local Fry’s, got a smooth transaction with Chase Pay on a first try. Then few days later I tried again unsuccessfully – the same store. Multiple calls to Chase and multiplies tries with the store employees did not help.
Today I was able to do it successfully again. Here is what I’ve done: used a manned checkout terminal in a self-service area (not an actual self-service terminal, but the one where an attendant finalizing transactions, adjusting coupons, etc.). After the attendant scanned the item, make sure he doesn’t press any buttons on their screen, but rather scan your QR Chase Pay code directly. Next he had to enter my ID (possibly because I was buying gift cards). Receipt printed out successfully.
Again – same store, same terminal, different procedure. They tried to use “Chase Pay”, ETF, etc. before. Always failed.
Hope it helps!

I tried to use Chase Pay at my local Fry’s Grocery store in Arizona. The woman looked at me like I was a 3 eyed alien and said I have no idea what you are talking about. She called over a supervisor who said she did not know what Chase Pay was but that is was not one of their accepted pay methods. Too bad Chase has a promotion with stores that don’t accept Chase Pay.

I have tried at a few Fry’s locations, including Scottsdale, which Fry’s specifically did you go to? Thank you =)

This seems like a silly question but, how do you use chase pay at frys? It seems like you need to have an android phone in order to do it. Otherwise they need to have some kind of qr scanner right?

Just scan the QR code at the scanner. It worked for me.

Reni is right. Pull up your ChasePay on you phone. Click Pay button. There will be a QR code to scan.

I used self checkout today and the QR code neither worked before or after pressing the pay button. Both the self checkout employee and front end assistant manager ever heard of or could figure out how to use chase pay after many attempts. My store is listed in Chase Pay as a merchant. It seems this shouldn’t be rolled out without even Fry’s managers knowing how to use the system. I went ahead and made my purchase anyway and will express my displeasure via Chase SM asking to provide me the points as a courtesy.

Did you press the ChasePay button on the checkout screen? There is a separate button for ChasePay. Not the same as the Card payment button. I checked out a 500 dollar Amazon GC and had to wait for the manager to verify my ID. She redid my transaction but she didn’t know there was a ChasePay button on the screen until I told her.

Do you have to add the deal or is it automatically approved once you make the purchase?

Kinda same question as everyone I guess:

when I go search for a store at https://www.frysfood.com/stores/ it lists a bunch of Smith’s supermarkets in my area.

So wondering if it would work there too?

Is it Frys grocery only? Or does this apply to Ralph’s or Fred Meyer too? All are under the Kroger umbrella.

Bummer, no Fry’s Grocery near me. I just used Freedom at Ralphs/Kroger today so will see how it posts.

So it seems this offer is for the Fry’s grocery stores, not the electronic store.

So since grocery are 5x, this is only an extra 5x? Does it work at Kroger since it works at Fry’s?

I think you are only getting 5 extra on top of the 5 points for this quarter. Not sure about other Kroger’s. We have Fry’s grocery chains here in Arizona.
I will go do my CSR and Freedom tonight.

It’s an extra 5x for Freedom cards, an extra 9x for CSR/CSP, or an extra 8.5x for CFU

Most likely not, since it specifically lists Fry’s (and not Kroger). But if it does, let us know!

Additionally:
– Please note that fuel purchases at Fry’s are excluded from this promotion.

– Please note that all online purchases are excluded from this promotion, even if picked up at the store.
