Chase Testing ‘Selected For Business Owners’ Offers – Do They By Pass 5/24? Seeking Data Points

Some Chase credit cards are subject to the Chase 5/24 rule. The short of it is that you will not be approved for some of their credit cards if you’ve opened 5 or more other cards in the past 24 months. You can read about this rule in detail including what cards are/aren’t affected by it by clicking here.

There are some ways to bypass this rule and one of those ways is by receiving a ‘selected for you’ offer online with a green check mark. Previously these offers were only showing up for personal cards, in fact these offers wouldn’t show for people at all if they had business cards under their account (as the new design wouldn’t show).

Reader @MattEnder recently shared the following picture showing business cards with a green check mark next to ‘selected for business owners’. Because these look identical to the personal offers that bypass the 5/24 rule, I suspect that these offers also bypass the 5/24 rule.

Problem is that I can’t get these offers to show and I haven’t been able to find anybody else that has been able to get them to show either (and unfortunately Matt on Twitter isn’t responding). I’m hoping a reader will be able to help. To see your offers try using this link. If you see the ‘selected for business owners’ as pictured above, please let us know the following:

  • Do you already have business cards? If yes, are they under the same login you used to view these offers?
  • If you apply for the card, were you approved and what is your Chase 5/24 status?
  • Share any other information you can including where you saw the offers if you found them elsewhere

Data Points

Here’s what I’ve gathered from the comments.

I’m hoping that Chase didn’t mean to release this two weeks ago and that’s why Matt was denied. I guess we will have to wait and see when these offers begin reappearing.

Please keep in mind we aren’t really interested in your data points unless you can see the selected for business owners offers or similar (unless they are particularly unusual for whatever reason). Fingers crossed this is being rolled out slowly and will be another way to bypass the 5/24 rule.

This didn’t work for me. I saw the selected for business offer in my online account that showed both the ink cards and freedom unlimited. I applied for the ink but the application went pending. This was about a week ago. I got a card denial letter from Chase. Reason given was too many cards in the last 2 years. I was above the chase 5/24 rule.

“The short of it is that you will not be approved for some of their credit cards if you’ve opened more than 5 other cards in the past 24 months.” -DoC

This is wrong. It’s more than 4 cards, not 5. If you opened 5, then you will be denied.

Comment about interfaces:

My business profile is always shown the old interface, when my wife’s business profile shows the new interface (same as we see on the personal profiles)… so some business profiles have already been migrated to the new platform.

Asked Chase, but did not get any answer on when other accounts would be moved too.

I can not find any… the business profile under new design is different from personal (different menu options) and it does not have “Your Offers” menu as the personal does.

None of our personal profiles have any offers either.

Her business profile was like this for many months now… I do not even remember if it was on the old portal at first… if it was it got migrated long time ago (at least from the end of last year).

Marriot Business is excluded from the 5/24 rule. You should read some of doc’s post on the 5/24 rule.

I have 2 logins for Chase. One for personal with new interface and one for business with the new “Chase for Business” interface that is similar to the new one. One thing I noticed is the new interface for Business still doesn’t add the new personal features like account nicknames and UR earned per transaction without going to UR portal. There still is the issue of transactions disappearing when going between pending and posting on business side too.

There is no “Your Offers” section in the new Business only login. My personal login has selected for you offer for a merchant terminal though…

My Chase Ink card and my Chase Freedom card are two separate logins and two completely different interfaces. Only my Chase Freedom card uses the newer, better looking interface with the menu on the side. I don’t have any business card pre-approvals on my Ink account presumably because it’s the old interface that doesn’t show “Your Offers.”

Replying comments above:

These offer resets every calendar month as I understand, so it’s normal that offers from 2 weeks ago now disappeared.

I always believe the green check means it bypasses 5/24. It’d be nice to see some data points confirming this!
