China Southern Joins World Of Hyatt

Hyatt has announced that China Southern has become a new airline partner. Unfortunately the new partnership is more or less dead on arrival, as the benefits are as follows:

  • Earn 800 kilometers of Sky Pearl Club mileage after completing a qualifying stay at a Hyatt hotel
  • Convert every 5,000 World of Hyatt points into 2,000 Sky Pearl Club kilometers

I’m not really sure why Hyatt and other chains bother with these types of partnerships when the earning and conversion rates are so poor, I guess it’s worth doing otherwise they wouldn’t do it but it does strike me as a waste of resources.

Actually none of the country in the world like US has so many source of points and miles, so majority of people has very little miles and points through churning or credit card. This will make them easy to consolidate their points and miles into one and they can then reimburse for award tickets. Of course not at a level of we r doing here.

Hyatt is targeting Chinese, not US, travelers with this partnership.

Right, but glancing at the CS award chart, it’s a terrible transfer rate. Chinese or not, it’s got to be pretty low on a traveler’s options for using Hyatt points.
