Does it work for international stays outside of the U.S?

It depends on the country. Choice Privileges is apparently implemented in 45 countries, but some other countries, including much of Scandinavia, have their own separate Choice program, not part of Choice Privileges, where you can redeem Choice Privileges points, but can’t earn them.

any of those in Asia?

You could have figured it out ourself.

Just search using Choice Privileges, and if you book in a country like Norway which I know has a different Choice program, then once you select View Rooms, it shows an underlined message which says “You will not earn Choice Privileges points at this hotel*”.

And if you click on that message, it present a big popup which says:

You do not earn Choice Privileges points for stays at this hotel or for hotels located in Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Japan, Norway and Sweden.

So as you can see, it includes some countries in Europe, some countries in Asia. And it’s not clear which other countries in Asia have Choice hotels, unless you search for them there.

The 2025 deal is back to two nights. It can be used with most discount rates and coupon codes, so if you are driving and need a $50 Rodeway Inn, you can get enough points for a buy two, get one free.

Great to see this promo back again — easy way to rack up Choice points, especially with short, budget stays. Always appreciate the heads-up on these recurring deals!

This is not their usual offer for 2 separate stays, but rather 1 stay of 2 or more consecutive nights (up to 3 times). From the T&Cs: This Offer is for an award of 8,000 bonus points after you stay two or more consecutive nights at participating Choice® hotels.”  William Charles

But you should probably change or replace the Our Verdict section where it says “Fairly standard offer for Choice”, because this appears to be only the second time in a decade or two that they’ve done it this way.

They seem to have changed it back to 2 separate stays, though there is still a cap of 4 times. When I go to the Choice website now (or even yesterday, I’m not sure when they changed it), it says:

Even More Reasons To Travel
Stay 2x, Get a $50 Gift Card*Earn points to redeem for a $50 gift card on every two qualifying stays May 19 through September 2, 2025.

And the T&Cs say:

Bonus Point Awards: Registered members will be awarded a minimum of 5,000 to a maximum of 8,000 bonus points after the second qualifying stay. The Choice Privileges member number must be on the reservations. The number of bonus points awarded depends on the number of base points earned from the two separate qualifying stays, with points varying by hotel. The total of base points plus bonus points awarded, however, will be at least 8,000 points, which is the number of points required to redeem for a $50 gift card from participating retailers (see list below; list subject to change). Members may take advantage of this offer a maximum of four times during the Offer period, although the member may continue to earn base points (and any Elite bonuses) on subsequent qualifying stays. A selection of gift cards is available at the discounted redemption rate of 8,000 points from 5/19/2025 through 9/2/2025. Members will have 60 days after the promotion ends to redeem their points for a $50 gift card at the reduced point level. Beginning 11/1/2025, the $50 gift cards will return to their standard redemption

By the way, I recall that this isn’t the first time that Choice changed a promo after initially announcing it. I recall them getting it wrong on the first try at least one or two times before, because they were copying from the previous promo language without adequately editing the text. For example, I remember promos which for the first few days had T&Cs which conflicted with the banner headline of the promo, and then after a few days they fixed them to match.

did they honor the original promo last time they changed it? I registered during the original one that went up last week

Stefan

When exactly last week? I think it was correct by May 20th, if not earlier, because that’s what the date on the linked FM site is, and it’s got the right information now.

In the past, they usually put erroneous versions before the start date, and then usually fixed by the start date. But most of the errors in the past were conflicts between the banner headline and the T&Cs, I don’t remember a case where the error was the same on the headline and T&Cs before.

Did you confirm what the wording was it the moment you registered? Maybe it was already fixed by then but you just didn’t notice? Do you have a confirmation email from the registration which spells out the terms?

I’m not even absolutely sure now that it was ever wrong on Choice site, it may have just been a misstatement originally somewhere else. On another travel discussion site I frequent, FlyerTalk, there was never any mention of it being anything other than “2 stays” this time.

Yes. From the T&C:

The Offer is only valid for qualifying stays, which exclude rooms booked below certain rates, reward night stays, complimentary rooms, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, rooms booked through a travel agent, wholesale packages, group tours, and stays booked using the employee discount or the friends, family and associate discount.”

The lower limit on room rates to earn Choice points is most typically $40.

I realize that this is an older post, but I just wanted to document that.

Did 3 nights. First night did not qualify because I clicked “register” after booking and not before.
However, they added 7000 points today, just 24h after the “second” qualified night, she told me on the phone that 16000 points worth $50 visa gift card and now it’s only 8000 points during the promotion.
But when I click gift cards, all are 25$ for 8000pts.
Maybe I have to wait the end of the period (September) to order the gift card if they do 50% off on them.
The hotels were not the best ones… and the Patel family is a little lazy to clean properly the rooms… :p

DP — I did not receive the promotion points, for the following reason: “In order to qualify for the promotion, your stay at the property must have a 24-hour interval between each night.”

So if P1 books 1st and 3rd nights and P2 books second night, then P1 should be eligible for the offer.

Per the FAQ (link in my post below), both in answer 10 and in the fine print below, one big change:

It’s not EVERY two stays. It’s only the FIRST FOUR pairs of stays.

And the promo doesn’t start until Monday June 3, so that could be why registration isn’t working yet.

Plus, it’s the “gift card” version, which simply means you’ve got an alternate redemption offer, it has nothing to do with points earning on stays.

Ya looks like this one is $50 towards GC for various stores. I did the previous and had to email them and they provided 5K pts vs 8K cause said it is based on what is “spent” (?) I stayed at a Clarion for work so decided to amass some pts…but Choice seems continually on the struggle bus.
