Our Verdict
Fairly standard offer for Choice.
Time to expose myself to mildew and mold. Generous but painful.
This time it’s the other kind of promo, where you just earn points, with no special option for gift card redeeming. But it’s still a very good value.
And at least the Choice Promo FAQ has been updated correctly for this fall promo:

Very confusing. They say they “extended” the promo, but only after a gap of a few weeks. So was it really an extension? Are people who did 2 paid stays during the gap going to retroactively earn extra points that can be turned into gift cards???

The headline says it’s through June 30, but scroll down and the fine print of the T&Cs says it’s “with arrival between 03/27/2023 and 09/05/2023”.
Gift cards are normally 8K for $25, but it says you get a reduced rate of 8K for $50 as part of the promo. I’m curious how to just buy the cheaper gift cards without doing a stay, but I don’t see where the reduced rate comes into play.
I hate Choice but these are pretty generous offers. I have been known to check out of a hotel on a multi night trip and stay 3 miles away the next night to qualify for these offers. The mildew stench of Choice hotels is really hit or miss, but it seems to be in a majority of these places.
Well, now the number of Choice Privileges hotels has increased, because the formerly Radisson Americas hotels are now integrated into the Choice program, since the programs merged earlier this month.
My offer is stay twice for a $50 gift card (to merchant of choosing)
They will give you up to 8k bonus point, then you go redeem it for a GC. You don’t have to redeem it for a GC. Depending how many total pts you earn on your 2 stays, they will give you the difference between that and 8k, so its not even true 8k bonus.
If a person has status, the status points are still earned in addition to the 8,000. Just the amount of the base rate goes toward that 8,000 total.
That’s everybody’s offer. But it’s just 8000 bonus points for 2 stays with the option of redeeming for a $50 gift card. They’ve historically run 3 8000/2 promotions a year, with one or two of them being “gift card” promos, and the rest not offering the gift card part of the deal.
Many people ignore the gift card part, because redeeming for actual Choice stays is usually the better deal, especially since with Choice (unlike most other programs) you can usually get ANY type of room in the hotel for the same number of points. So a deluxe suite (if available) is typically the same number of points as a single bed basic room, etc.
The one downside is that you must wait until 100 days or less before your stay to book it. But any many Choice hotels, I get a wide range of choice of rooms even just a few days out, because many of the rooms had high cash rates and so most people booked the cheaper rooms with money.
Can this be stacked with a timeshare offer?
