Citi AAdvantage Executive cardholders ($450 annual fee) will receive a $225 statement credit due to the impact of of COVID-19 on travel and the temporary closure of Admirals Club lounges. Statement credit is for any AAdvantage Executive cardholders who have had an open account on March 31, 2020, not for new cardmembers since that time.
Citi said the following in a statement to Frequentmiler:
At Citi, we are committed to ensuring that our credit card products continue to drive value for our customers throughout these unprecedented times. Given the impact of COVID-19 on travel and the temporary closure of Admirals Club lounges,we are notifying eligible Citi / AAdvantage Executive cardmembers who had an open account as of March 31, 2020 and prior that we will be issuing a one-time courtesy credit of $225 upon card renewal.Cardmembers will see the credit within two billing statements after the annual fee bills to their account. Citi, alongside our partner American Airlines, are looking forward to welcoming our cardmembers back to the Admirals Club lounges soon.
Citi is packaging this different than Amex did with their statement credits: in Amex’s case it’s to entice customers for renewal, hence it only applies to those with upcoming renewals, whereas in Citi’s case it’s for lack of benefits being given by the card, and it should apply to all cardholders.
Still happy I PCed to the MileUp in January (for reasons that had nothing to do with coronavirus).
Already used up my CSR credits. Hope they can refund some AF
They did give $100 to those who were renewing in April and some time beyond that, but only because they annual fee jumped to $550 in April. Doubt they’ll do more… though I wouldn’t mind if they do 🙂
Still waiting for Chase to do something..
Chase always has the attitude of “we’re doing you a favor by extending you credit” so I’m not sure they will do too much. they just never seem like a hugely customer friendly lender.
Hopefully they announced something for Citi Prestige card holders.
The Prestige has announced that the $250 travel credit has been expanded to travel and restaurants. I suppose it’s possible more may be announced.
They made the $250 travel credit ridiculously easy to get, so I’m guessing we won’t see more on that front. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-prestige-250-travel-credit-for-2020-can-be-used-at-restaurants/
My Citi prestige annual fee posted on 5/1 so I may be a data post in a few days. I’m not a big restaurant eater preferring the value of supermarkets and home cooking so that $250 expanded is little value to me. 2nd to an AF break thankfully supermarkets do count.
