Our Verdict

The current best deal is 60,000 miles after $3,000 in spend, but the beauty of that offer is that you can request a match to 75,000 miles and they seemingly match everybody. In general it seems that Citi has matched to higher American Airlines bonuses as long as the match is no more than 20,000 additional miles (e.g they won’t match 50,000 to 75,000). I had assumed that because this offer contained a statement credit component they wouldn’t match, but there is at least one person that has been matched. Personally I don’t see them continuing to match people that have signed up for the statement credit offer, but if you can get matched then 70,000 miles + $200 in statement credits towards American Airlines purchases is significantly better than 75,000 miles. The 75,000 mile offer is better than 50,000 miles + $200 though. Feel free to share your own matching datapoints in the comments below.
