Citi Hilton No Annual Fee 50,000 Point Offer

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • The Citi Hilton no annual fee card is offering 50,000 points after $1,000 in spend within the first three months of account opening.

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • The card earns at the following rates:
  • Complimentary Hilton Silver Status as long as you’re a cardholder
  • Fast track to gold status (four stays within 90 days of account opening or when you make $20,000+ purchases in each calendar year)
  • Annual loyalty bonus of 10,000 Hilton HHonors bonus points at the end of each calendar year in which you spend $1,000 or more on stays with the Hilton Portfolio
  • Standard Visa Signature Benefits

Our Verdict

Historically 75,000 points is the highest bonus on this card, so this offer isn’t that attractive. The reason we’re posting is that Citi has pulled the Hilton cards from their site (likely due to American Express becoming the exclusive issuer in 2018). That being said this offer does contain the following restrictive language:

  • Hilton Honors Bonus Points offer associated with a new card opening is not available if you have opened or closed any Citi®Hilton HonorsTM card in the past 24 months

If you haven’t opened or closed a Citi Hilton card in the last 24 months, I think you are better off with the Citi Hilton Reserve card that offers two free weekend nights. There is a 40,000 point offer on this card, and that doesn’t have the 24-month language. You can read more about this rule here.

As always if you’re thinking about applying or have any questions I would recommend that you read this linked post first as it most likely answers those questions. One such question people will have is: Will Citi match this offer? Citi will usually match if you’ve applied within 90 days and the 24-month language from this offer shouldn’t matter when matching if the offer you applied for didn’t have that language.

All Citi Hilton links seem dead. I tried the Citi Hilton Reserve and Citi Hilton No Annual Fee cards (40,000 points with _no_ 24 month language and 50,000 points _with_ 24 month language). I tried all Citi Hilton links in Chrome Incognito and Safari. All Citi Hilton links seem dead. Bummer…

I’m curious why Citi would still implement the 24 month rule if they’re going to lose Hilton soon. Why would they care? Maybe I don’t understand enough of why credit card companies do what they do.

@scott
24 month rule is specifically designed to prevent “churners” to misuse the offer(s).
In this case it is to deny those churners who already took advantage of this offer in past 24 months to apply again. Doesn’t matter what happens in the future.

I understands it’s to deny churners. But if Citi is losing Hilton in a few months I would think they would just want as many applicants as they can to collect the annual fee.

Thanks instant approval. Last Citi Hilton was opened 4/22/2015, Visa Signature.
Last Citi application 3/19/2017 (denied). I thought I was going to need to wait 91 days from that last application to be approved. Whew!
