According to The Miles Man some Citi Premier cardholders are seeing a $95 credit on their statement listed as ‘$95 annual fee waiver’, this is without having to call into Citi to ask for a retention offer. Recently we’ve seen generous retention offers from both Chase & American Express but it’s nice to see Citi waiving the annual fee without even having to ask.
AF posted two weeks back. Chat was useless and they forced me to call. Rep said they cannot do anything and so I asked them to cancel. Transferred to a “Senior Account Executive” who offered to credit the $95 fee if I a make another $95 purchase in 30 days. Accepted the offer.
They didn’t offer to waive my fee. I cancelled.
I just closed my account after they refused to waive the fee. I could have downgraded, but they only wanted to offer me Rewards + and Double Cash which I already have and I just didn’t see the point in having multiple of the same card type.
No luck on 2 Premier cards. Made up my mind to keep them and churn 4 more cards in the next 24 mo cycle.
What happens to your TY points if you downgrade?
offered 5000 points for 1000 spend in 30 days. Taken
Meanwhile the $95 statement credit from a retention offer I was supposed to get 2 months ago still hasn’t posted…
No dice via chat, but they did throw me 1K points as a goodwill gesture. I’ll take it…*shrug*
This seems highly YMMV. I called them twice with a week apart. No love, could only downgrade, to avoid the AF.
Chat and got denied. But rep offer 1000 TYP as goodwill. Accepted and now I am paranoid if it jeopardizes my annual fee credit
