Comenity has sent out an e-mail to existing AAA daily advantage cardholders with a survey regarding possible changes. They provided various ‘packages’ with different earning rates and benefits. The current card offers:
- No annual fee
- No foreign transaction fee
- Visa signature benefits
- Signup bonus: $100 Statement Credit when you spend $1,000 within the first 90 days of account opening
- Card rewards:
- 5% cashback on grocery purchases
- Maximum of $500 USD cash back earned in a calendar year at grocery stores
- 3% cashback on gas, electric-vehicle charging, wholesale clubs, streaming services, pharmacy, and AAA purchases
- Maximum of $500 USD cash back earned in a calendar year at grocery stores, wholesale clubs and gas stations combined.
- 1% cashback on all other purchases
- 5% cashback on grocery purchases
Reddit user Ok_Rate_1752 shared their version of the proposed changes and different variations. Main thing is the loss of 5% on grocery store purchases, but the two packages are as follows:
Package 1
- Higher cashback on AAA membership
- 3% cashback on pharmacy and streaming purchases
- Cashback can be used on Amazon
- Brand shopping discounts
Package 2
- 5% cashback on AAA membership and insurance
- 4% cashback on groceries
- 3% cashback at wholesale clubs
- $75 AAA credit after $10,000 annual spending
- Priority Pass airport lounge access
Package 2 is obviously the better option so not entirely sure the point of the survey. Often we see these surveys and nothing changes but it is a sign that the card issuer (in this case Comenity) is at least considering changes.
