Current Best American Express Business Platinum Offers (Get In Before Annual Fee Increases To $595)

In case you missed yesterday’s news the American Express Business Platinum’s annual fee will be increased to $595 in February, they are also adding some additional benefits to try and make up for the $145 annual fee increase. Because of this I imagine many readers are interested in getting the card now before this increase. The current public bonus is 50,000 points after $10,000 in spend and an additional 25,000 points after an additional $10,000 in spend ($20,000 spend total). There are two better offers:

I don’t think there are any other ways to get other bonuses on this card currently but if there are then I’d love to hear them. Please do not share your referrals in the comments below.

Called in for 100k/10k in mid December…no offer. Representative called back ~2 weeks later offering 100k/10k. Crossing my fingers and holding out for 150k/20k prior to Feb 😉

I got a reader’s mistake (sob) story here…. Early Dec 2017, I got the business plat for 50K after $10K spent. Stupidly, I bought quite a few VGCs at SimonMall (I was fairly new in MS and not knowing it is taboo with AMEX CC) and got caught. Found that out 4 months later when the MRPs still wasn’t posted. Kindly requested Amex to re-eval the situation stating that the purchases were for employees’ year-end bonus, naturally they could care less.
Well, I think the new AF of $450 will be posted on 1/8/19, urgent questions for Doc and the SMEs please, is it possible/safe to do the $200 airline spend on 1/1/19 then cancel the card after the airline credit and AF are posted? When would be the best time (or date) to cancel the card?

Urgent question:- 5 of us in family, being offered 150k offer to each of us for 20k spend in 4 months. Worth taking for all of us? Spend meet isn’t a problem but thinking about hefty AF for all 5 cards v/s total overall benefits (More bang for buck motto)

Doc and experts please advise

150K Bonus + Potential $600 AFC (easily offsets AF) is itself worth it, other benefits just adds up lucratively. Forget 5, i would apply for even 1 if had a chance. Envious (but happy) you can get for 5. GO FOR IT (meeting 100k spend will be a challenge though but not Impossible)!!!! And take me once, to the Centurion lounge, for this encouraging message 🙂

Just tried the call in method – they claimed those offers do not exist for long and expire about 1 month after received. They wouldn’t honor it, so I said we’d go with another issuer – they asked about our business expenses.

Ditto, no bait for 100k/150k. Feeling sad.

I just logged into my wife Amex EveryDay account and at the top (under the menu bar and above the payment due section) there was an offer to apply for the business platinum for 75k points with only 5k spend w/in 3 months.
I saw this once before on her account a few months ago but didn’t get it because we had too much other spend to meet at that time. But when I saw your post about the new increased fee a few days ago I’ve been checking every day for the last few days and today it was finally there again. Instant approval.

  CJ

some additional info – I had also been checking the pre-approved/targeted offers as well as self referrals the last few days and this offer was never in any of those. When I had the offer a few months ago I clicked on the pre-approved offers during the same login but it showed the standard 10k spend – so it looks like you need this specific offer to pop up on the main landing page for a card in order to get it.

I took an upgrade offer to this card last week that only gives 50k pts with 10k spend. It doesn’t say anything about spending an additional 10k and getting 25k in pts… Anyone have experience with AMEX matching offers?
