The Offer

  • Delta is having another flash sale with award round trip tickets to Asia starting from 50,000 miles. These tickets must be booked by March 20th, 2018 for flights from March 13th through May 24th.

The Fine Print

  • Tickets | Tickets must be purchased on or before March 20, 2018
  • Travel Period | Outbound travel from the U.S. to select Asia cities permitted through May 24, 2018
  • Fare Availability: Promotional fares may not be available on the following dates:
    United States to Nagoya, Japan (NGO), Shanghai, China (PVG), or Beijing, China (PEK): May 01 – 24, 2018
    Shanghai, China (PVG) to Atlanta, GA (ATL): March 29 – April 2, 2018; April 25 – 30, 2018; June 14 – 20, 2018
    Shanghai, China (PVG) to Minneapolis, MN (MSP): March 29 – April 2, 2018; April 18 – 30, 2018; June 14 – 20, 2018

Our Verdict

It looks like the cash prices are also discounted. Delta is annoying in that they don’t publish an award chart any longer, but they do have these award sales. It’s kind of like having your cake and eating it too. These are discounted fares though, you can see the award charts Delta does still use over at Travelisfree. To give you an example Round trip to Hong Kong would usually be 80,000 miles round trip. During this sale you can do the same trip (Seattle to Hong Kong) for 50,000 miles.

Gosh, I wish I had waited. Bought in last Dec for 70k miles.

The downside is that you cannot use the 144 hour Travel without a Visa program on a R/T, you have to involve a 3rd country. Of course I guess you could add on a r/t to somewhere inside the Delta ticket like Thailand.
