Our Verdict
Cheaper than some previous Delta one sales we’ve seen to Europe, although not as cheap as the 80,000 flights we saw in July.
This is a good deal if you have actual DL miles. If you are transferring from Amex, personally I think this is average to subpar. You can book DL flights on Virgin Atlantic for 100k all the time, and last time I took a LAX-AMS flight in DL business, I booked it with Virgin miles, transferred from Amex at 30% bonus (which is run fairly often). I pay 77k Amex for the DL flight, that even here is 98k. Plus, Amex are WAY too valuable to burn at 98k converting to DL considering how many other more valuable partners they have. Like I said, I think with actual DL miles from an Amex DL card or something, this is pretty hot, but not for moving Amex. Obviously, booking straight DL over VS has some advantages like being able to include positioning flights if you are not booking a 1 segment direct flight.
And whatever you do, don’t book anything that flies the 757 in business internationally :).
There were no 80K mile RT Delta One seats available in July, as the comment section in that post shows. DoC misinterpreted someone’s comments. 80K was only available one-way.
Can these offers be booked with equivalent amounts of VS miles?

Yes, I got XXX-SEA-AMS for the same 98k miles as they wanted for SEA-AMS.
I would have happily taken this deal but I was glad to use my Air France points up on there special promo. 2 people 2 round trip Tickets for 144k miles and taxes. the taxes are what kill you with Air France $1056 in taxes for 2 people. Lucky Amex had that offer for 20k MR points after $1000 in spend with Air France. Anyway I’ll be trying the new Air France 777 product from Seattle to CDG in March. Can’t wait to see the comparison between the Delta 777 suite And the Air France 777 new business class.
Anyway what would you choose the New Delta One Suite for 98k miles and $132/taxes or Air France’s new Business Class for 72k miles and $528/taxes? (Each round trip)
I found some great New suite availability on the A350-900 and the 777-200 from Minneapolis to AMS it’s the 350 from MSP to CDG it’s the 777 I used this deal last year when it was 92k miles and I took the flight to CDG and I loved the 777 it’s definitely one of my new favorite products. I’m in a Wheelchair and there cabin actually moves the whole wall out of the way so a transfer can be made from wheelchair to seat. Really cool I wish the attendants new that when I was trying to get into the seat! Also just a heads up for people try searching from your home airport I live in Missoula Montana and I still got the same deal! So no need to Take a positioning flight first, in many cases.
