Our Verdict
Another week of weak domestic offers.
Hat tip to The Gate
Washington DC to LA is 22,500 miles + taxes & fees*
Detroit to Las Vegas 34,000 miles + taxes & fees*
Are these supposed to deals? Seems like they have two routes that are actually 10k miles and this is just a way to advertise their regular rates for free on travel blogs.
Agree, bloggers should not give these guys free advertisements for such crappy deals.
I think that DC to LA deal is pretty decent. On AA, that route would probably be 12.5k, and on UA, if you can find availability, it might be 12.5k or 15k or 17.5k. It’s pretty rare to find transcons for under 12.5k. The only transcons that I regularly find for under 12.5k are on JetBlue, and that’s only when the cash fares are somewhat on sale (e.g. priced under $139).
That DTW->LAS deal definitely blows, though haha
Exactly. Detroit to Vegas caught my eye, until I saw they wanted 34,000 miles as a “sale” price. That might be a reasonable regular price, but it’s lousy as a sale.
