Our Verdict
Normal prices are 35,000 for economy or 60,000 for first class, so this is a deep discount. Thrifty Traveler is the one that found this deal and has put together a good list of departure cities and dates, so head over there for more. Anytime you use Delta miles is a good time, but this is a particularly good deal if you can make the dates work.
Not seeing any deals for MSP to PVR in Feb. 2019 — RT is 56k+.
I feel like I’ve noticed Delta award flights more tied to cash cost of the flight than in the past. Looking at MSP-LAS $214 or 13,000 miles. This deal MSP-CUN $419 or 21,000 miles. Once subtracting the taxes you’d pay on the award ticket, they’re both 1.6 cpp.
Definitely more dynamic pricing than I’ve seen in the past.
Wed Dec 5 to Sun Dec 9 roundtrip from JFK to Cancun for 16K plus $80 is a good deal for a long weekend winter break.
The all inclusive Hyatt Ziva (25K UR points) is a must visit if you havent been there yet.
I thought the beach and hotel at the Ritz were far superior to either Hyatt option. Plus the food sucks at those 2 all inclusive properties
I don’t doubt that, but the Ritz is 50k Marriott/night and the Hyatts are 25k Hyatt/UR per night and inclusive.
That seems to come out to 2cpp, so this is more of a deal than I was finding from MSP.
I’ve been to Zilara Cancun so far.
unless u have a very specific need, nobody should be going to mexico…
I ate some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had down in Hermosillo last week. Everybody should be eating some of the best Mexican food they’ve ever had.
