Update 8/17/22: These deals are back again. Hat tip to Flyertalk
Yesterday it was possible to book a lot of IHG award stays at a discounted rate. We didn’t post at the time because by the time I saw it it looked like the deal had finished, but there are now reports of some properties still showing discounted rates. It’s worth checking existing bookings and rebooking if possible or planning out future travel as well.
It’s unclear if this is an error by IHG or a legitimate unadvertised award sale. I guess that’s one issue when award charts are removed.
Can someone tell me if this sale was only for platinum and diamond members, or for everyone?
Everyone
Thanks
What is making everyone think prices are discounted? Is there a price with a strikeout font and then a lower price next to it? If not, isn’t it just the normal “dynamic” pricing?
No, there is no indication that it is discounted, other than the fact that the price is remarkably low.
It’s the old award chart kicking in somehow. 10K for a Holiday Inn, 30K for an Intercontinental. This is embarrassing to IHG because it shows how much they have devalued.
Booked a hotel in NYC for 20k points a night, but my confirmation shows 42k a night.. that’s so deceptive.
Was about to book…deal is gone
I was able to book Monterey HIE at Cannery Row for 20K per night. Now back up to 38k. Thanks for all you do, DOC!
Looks like it is dead now. I managed to rebook in Moab, UT for 20,000 points/night earlier this morning. My original booking (and the current rate) was 44,000/night.
Is there any way of being notified by IHG when this happens?
no
dead 🙁
alive again
Got one in for an NYC Saturday night, tried to get a 2nd and the rates went back.
It appears prices are back to what they were before so the sale has apparently ended.
