Discover it – $75 Statement Credit Bonus + Cashback Matched First Year

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Discover/Amazon are offering a $75 statement credit after your first Amazon.com purchase on the Discover it card

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • Card earns 5% cash back on the first $1,500 per quarter in rotating categories
  • Card earns 1% cash back on all other purchases
  • Cashback is matched after your first year (effectively making it 10%/2% in your first year)

Our Verdict

This bonus has been available for sometime on the Discover it Miles card, I believe it’s new on the Discover it. Standard bonus is $50 via referral, that used to also get matched at the end of the first year but it’s no longer the case. You’re still better off using a referral if a loved one/significant other can refer you and will give you the $50 they get. Keep in mind this card is also losing price protection on October 31st, 2018. The power of this card is really the 5% categories that become 10% in the first year. If you normally struggle to meet minimum spends then those won’t be that attractive as you’ll be wanting to put all your spend towards new cards/bonuses. If you MS or spend a bit more then they can be extremely useful. As always if you have any questions about Discover cards, read this post first.

Anyone? Anyone know if there are limits on when you can get a new card / bonus? I closed my 2nd Discover card about a year ago after the 1 year bonus posted. Can I just sign up for another one or is there language similar to other credit card bonuses such as 24 months?

Does anyone here have the Discover More? It looks just like the IT but I swear it’s metal. At my old job a woman paid with it and I swear I’ve not been able to find out a THING about it!

Discover more was discontinued around 2015, and all More cards were converted to Discover IT in 2016

A word of caution… be careful signing up for Discover It through Amazon. I received a pre qualified offer from Discover in the mail. Despite the fact I was applying through the Amazon link, the application asked for a reservation number. I had one on the mailer so I entered it. I never got the $75, and when I called Discover, their records said I applied by mail. Both companies said the other is responsible to pay and neither ever did. I’ve read many reports of other people not getting their bonuses as well. I honestly hope you do… John 3:16

Referrals with $50 for each, are the rewards from the 5% categories doubled for the 1st year?

This offer has been around for multiple years. But still noteworthy for the above reasons you mentioned.

Anyone know signup restrictions for Discover? I know there is a limit of 2 cards – I closed my last Discover after the double cashback posted ~1.5 years ago. Wondering if I can qualify again.

FYI, this offer has been around since at least this past June when I applied. Also, a small Amazon gift card balance reload triggers the $75 credit.
