F.A.Q About Chase IHG Premier 100,000 Point + $50 Deal

I’ve started trying to answer frequently asked questions on popular increased sign up bonuses. Chase is offering 100,000 points + a $50 statement credit on the IHG Premier card currently and readers had a lot of questions, so let’s try to answer them.

Can I Get Matched To This Bonus?

Chase’s unofficial policy is that they will match bonuses as long as you applied within the last 90 days. For some reason when a statement credit is offered on the bonus, Chase will always say that the statement credit will be removed even if the new offer also includes the statement credit. In practice they never actually remove the statement credit from all the data points I’ve seen. A lot of readers have tried to match to this new bonuses and have received denials ranging from:

  • Chase has changed their policy and no longer matches bonuses (this is just incorrect)
  • You’re not eligible for this bonus (even though the offer is public)

Sometimes it takes a day or two for the new offer to show in Chase’s system and during this period matching is always difficult. That being said we have seen a successful match already (Travel With Grant also successfully matched) Some things to keep in mind:

  • Secured messaging is the best way to get matched with Chase. If they say you’re not eligible, you can send them the public link to the offer.
  • The 100,000 point offer requires $3,000 in spend. The old offer required $2,000 in spend. You will need to hit that spend requirement before you’re officially matched. I’d still recommend secured messaging in asking for a match, they will tell you to message back once the spend requirement is hit but at least you will have something in writing (well in secured message anyway).

If you’re unsuccessfully after trying once, I’d wait a day or two and try again.

Am I Eligible For This Card If I Hold Another Chase IHG Card?

Yes, you are eligible. The fine print states:

This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

You’ll notice there is no mention of the IHG select card. This is in stark contrast to when the Marriott Premier Plus card launch and it stated (emphasis ours):

This product is available to you if you do not have the Marriott Rewards Premier or Premier Plus credit card, or have not received a new cardmember bonus for either of these cards within the past 24 months.

If I Hold Another Chase IHG Card, Will I Get Two Free Nights On Anniversary?

Yes, again there is nothing that restricts you from getting the anniversary free night on the IHG select card and on the IHG premier card. You’ll get the free night certificate on the card anniversary of that specific card. Keep in mind the IHG Premier free night certificate is restricted to properties that cost under 40,000 points per night. The free night certificate on the IHG select card is unrestricted for all certificates issued before May 1st, 2019. After this date you’ll be restricted to properties that cost 40,000 points or less.

When Does The Bonus End?

As far as I know, no public end date has been released.

Does Getting This Card Risk Me Getting Shutdown For Chase?

Applying for any Chase card carries some risk of a shut down. I’d suggest the risk is extremely minimal for most readers, but it’s hard to know what the actual shut downs are for and the rate at which they are being done. More information here.

Is This As High As The Sign Up Bonus Will Go?

You can never say something with 100% certainty but for reference this was the highest bonus we saw on the IHG select card. It looks like the standard bonus on the Premier card will be 80,000 points so I suspect this will be the best offer we see at least in the short term.

I Want To Refer A Friend To This Offer, How Do I Do It?

There is no referral offer currently available that gives you 100,000 + $50. The extra $50 is from doing a dummy booking on the IHG site, I’d be highly surprised if we ever see a referral offer with the additional $50.

I’m Under 5/24, Should I Apply?

The 5/24 rule doesn’t apply to this card so I’d recommend applying for a card that does have this rule and then you can simply get this card at a later date.
