Fidelity 2% Card Targeted Spend Bonuses – up to $20 Bonus

The Offer

Direct Link (requires unique offer code)

The Fidelity 2% Visa card from Elan is sending out a targeted ongoing spend offer. Offers are

  • Spend $xx amount [insert amount like $350, $2,900, $4,400, $6,200, whatever] and all spend beyond that will get an 20% bonus points per dollar spent. This should make it a 2.4% earning card after meeting the spend requirement.

The Fine Print

  • Promotion period is from March 1st through April 30th, 2019
  • Must enroll in this promotion by March 31st, 2019

Our Verdict

Deal is worse than normal, normally you earn an extra point per $1 spent after meeting the spend requirement. Whereas this time you earn an extra 20% bonus (or 0.4 points). Readers usually report getting the actual bonus is very slow or doesn’t happen at all with manual intervention so need to add that level of hassle to deciding if it’s worth it, personally I just pass on these deals now.

I picked up this card approximately 1.5 months ago with a targeted $150 offer. The first statement finally posted, but I still don’t have any bonus or regular cash back. Is it gonna be like Amex where I have to wait until the 2nd statement?

IIRC, they don’t pay out until you’ve hit at least $40 in cash back and you need to have autoredemption turned on. It’s paid out consistently for me, but there’s definitely a delay.

Do any MS on this card? Wondering how hard I can hit it.

It’s Elan/USBank so don’t cycle your CL and you’ll be fine. I’ve heard some people do cycle, but I’ve also heard of Elan shutdowns for that. Card works/earns fine at Simon, GCCOM, etc.

I haven’t confirmed this at Fidelity’s site yet, but I think Elan has sold the Fidelity cards to USBank.

I recently went out of country and called USBank to ask about foreign fees, and they asked me ‘ which account?’

I knew I had just opened my first and only USBank account within the last year, as I’m still on the 0% promo rate, so I was a bit alarmed when they told me I had 2 accounts.

CSR looked it up and it turned out to be my Fidelity VISA, previously with Elan.

This would also explain the similar offers rolled out by Fidelity and USBank

Millennial Outrage

Elan is a subsidiary of US Bank. 😉

Yeah – I found an article about USBank selling the ATM segment of their business- couldn’t edit my comment out quick enough
