FoundersCard: $99 For One Year (Normally $395)

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • FoundersCard is offering a one year membership for $99 when you use the promo code FCFRIENDS99. Full list of benefits can be found here.

Our Verdict

Normally this costs $395 per year which is a crazy amount in my opinion. $99 is better but I’m still not sure if it’s worth it or not. I assume this is the full membership, unlike the free trials that don’t include some benefits.

Signed up & paid on May 21. They approved my membership May 22. I immediately requested the upgrade on my Caesars Rewards account to Diamond. Received email that the upgrade went through June 8. Status was upgraded on the Caesars page later that night. Room reservations now show as bookable without the dreaded resort fees. Yes, this is the easiest and cheapest way to get Caesars Rewards Diamond status.

From what I hear, you lose status the moment your FoundersCard membership expires, not at the end of the status year (January) like if you had earned it. I plan on taking one trip to Las Vegas this year and using my $100 restaurant credit. Hopefully I can take a quick trip up to Atlantic City when it re-ups in 2021 before May 22 and get two $100 credits out of this membership. Atlantic City casinos are better about matching status tiers than Las Vegas, so maybe I can get a status match upgrade at another casino during that visit too.

Does anyone know if this will work with a referral? If I refer a friend to FC and they enter the code for $99, will I still get my 20K FC points for referring them?

The one thing that does looks interesting and bears further investigation is the $800 First Republic Bank Bonus.

Looks like you have to park $50k for 120-130 days. Not sure about monthly fees or early term fee – but could be decent ROI on $99 AF.

The 20k Stripe might also be worthwhile (approx $500-600)
if it is like Square and no leases or contracts. Although it might get you blacklisted for merchant services or they could also freeze funds/cancel account – if its $20k over a year and you can mix other legit swipes. Most CCS don’t like self-swiping or GCs because of ML issues.

Other benefits look rather meh.

First Republic bonus is likely not exclusive to the card holders, my banker was offering the same thing last year to anyone interested. I referred a few people and they all got it.

+1. Looked on First Republic’s site (and the internet) and found no mention of the $800 bonus. Would happily take a referral for that bonus!

Both offers required human intervene for application, note that the $800 First Republic Bank bonus is for a “Business” bank account as well, I think they won’t make it easy for “sole proprietor” to take advantage of these offers, if ever possible.

I actually applied about a year or so ago for this & got declined–guess it’s only for ‘elite’ business people

Good for $20k fee-free Stripe payments. If you process any online transactions that saves almost $600 right there.

Hmm, this could be useful for MS for CC offers assuming you can sign up for yourself up as a sole proprietor Stripe account.

Agreed. Anyone have experience using fee-free Stripe payments for MS?

No, it’s about $99 more than the easiest/cheapest way. No spoilers, just a reminder to read the blogs and dig a little…

I need to get me one of those invites. Someone should pyramid scheme-style add me. I don’t have any secret tips to contribute, but they can have a cut of the extra I earn. Win-win!

Wyndham method is toast as of April, so it is in fact the easiest and cheapest way.

And you needed a status to bootstrap it anyways, which I can’t think of any off-hand that are $0.

Sure, but a lot here carry a credit card that would give them that status anyway. I doubt anyone is applying for the Amex Plat just for Caesar’s Diamond.
