Free Lamination Of COVID-19 Vaccine Cards (Staples & Office Depot/Max)

The Offer

  • Staples & Office Depot/Max are offering free lamination of COVID-19 vaccine cards.
    • Staples: Use promo code 81450 (valid through May 1st)
    • Office Depot/Max: Use promo code 52516714 (valid through July 25th)

Our Verdict

You’ll want to keep these cards as safe as possible so getting them laminated isn’t a bad idea. As the comments point out, probably best to make a copy of the original and get that laminated so that any booster shots can still be added to the original.

If your vaccine card has a adhesive sticker/label on it, be careful. Heat from the lamination process could turn the sticker black. Better choice would be to make copy and laminate it, keep original in safe place.

Laminating your vaccination card will activate the microchip, allowing Bill Gates to send you a personalized thank you card & a coupon for 10% off tinfoil.

Be careful guys. We used a hot laminating machine at home and the heat burnt off the info of the first vaccination. The name, date and serial # was blank after the lamination. The card is useless but we do have a digital record from the vaccine site.

I highly recommend it. Based on what I know now, I don’t see any downside. Is there a chance that we will need a third shot that needs to be added to the card — yes, but who knows for sure. If that happens, they can make me a new card.

Also, one person below says the card may be rendered useless (not sure why) if laminated and another person said the card is useless already because it’s not a digital record.

Personally, I think we are going to be carrying these around when we travel for the next year, so I’d rather have something not bent and creased.

They can also make you a new card if you damage your card… or lose your laminated card. We even make you a another one when you show up for your second dose and forgot the card.

But it is unnecessary work and slows everyone down, especially if done 300 million times because people are so obsessed with lamination. If you come to my station, I might just tell you to sharpie the info on your original laminated card yourself.

I was told no replacement cards would be issued.

My guess is the info sticker was thermal and the heat from the laminating machine blanked the sticker. A cold press lamination should not have the same issue.

But, honestly, what real proof is a printed card with random scribbles? It’s not notarized or otherwise officially stamped. Anyone could fake it.

Is this going to end up one of those things that shouldn’t be laminated like your social security card?
