I almost missed this deal. Thanks for the heads up!!! I just got back from GE with my gift cards and a ton of fuel perks. I have a Camry so it doesn’t have a huge tank but this is still a GREAT deal.

Giant Eagle Gift Card deal is back! From 8-17-17 to 8-23-17. Includes Visa and Mastercard gift cards! I have already bought a bunch of the $200 Visa cards for $206.95 (Metabank). They work well at Walmart. I have only seen Mastercards for up to $100 amounts from US Bank. Don’t buy these.

Many stores seem to only have the higher value cards behind the customer service desk, but you still might find them at the kiosk.

“Earn 20¢ Giant Eagle fuelperks! for every $50 you spend on nearly ALL* retailer gift cards!
Valid through 8/23/17. *Excludes The Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon, iTunes, Best Buy, and Disney gift cards”

Giant Eagle fuelperks! is the best gas program in the country. No limit on how much you can redeem (aka free gas) for up to 30 gallons. Thank goodness for having multiple 5 gallon gas cans!

Yup it’s pretty sweet. Only have a 13 gal tank so I gotta bring four 5-gal cans. Amex BCP for 6% back helps also. I do the dining everywhere cards w the 4.95 fee since I’m able to liquidate those (kinda).

Don,
you don’t really need to spell it all the way out. The reason it’s the best is because widespread abuse hasn’t killed it yet… that day will come…. sooner the more people are spelling it out.

Not being a jerk, hard to type that out without sounding like one.

I love the program as much as you.

Also, there are better options than the… 😉

Dcatast:
Can you provide some more detail on the better options?
I understand your concern about spelling it out because it seems that very few recognize the potential within the fuelperks program. Is there a way you can shed some light on the better options? Thanks.

No. Sorry. DoC is an awesome place, so much respect for what will and chuck have done. But I don’t report positive data points in public.

That said, I’m not hard to find.

The vast majority of people don’t want to deal with floating money for gift cards, trying to liquidate them, bringing extra gas cans and later filling their tank up manually. It’s just too much hassle for most people. Anytime I explain this to anyone, they’re like “eh that’s a lot of work”. Most people like to keep their lives simple and would rather get one $50 Kohl’s gift card before they go across the street to shop. Are you worried about people who aren’t local? Are people driving 50 miles to save money on gas?

All that said, I’m still curious as to what you’re doing that’s more efficient, haha.

Per the current Giant Eagle circular ad, 2x Fuel Perks is back until 5-10-17 on all retailer gift cards, including Visa and MasterCard. Lowe’s and Home Depot are excluded from the promotion.

Tangentially related, their new’ish ‘E Rewards’ Program – which is separate from their typical ‘Card’ program – is actually well worth it. You get one ‘Free’ or almost free thing each week, with no strings attached. Usually the item is something worth around a buck or so, so its like a free $50 annually… Examples: Free Luna Bar, Cliff Bar, Gatorade / Water / Propel / Yogurt / Nuts / Trail Mix etc….

Hey ya’ll get into your online Giant Eagle rewards account, load the $6 off $60 purchase. Worked on just just gift card purchase. Also, if your GE is sold out of $200 cards, I steal em from other stores and load them at GE.

Does this apply to variable VGC/MCGC?

I’ve never seen a variable VGC/MCGC at a Giant Eagle. They do have the $200s, though, which aren’t a bad deal under an offer like this.

I see variable from 0-500 at my local Giant.

My Giant Eagle in PA has the variable Blackhawk. Wondering if you can buy with cc.

How do we know that this applies to Visa and Mastercard? Is this different than their standard promotions like 2x back? Is a $500 purchase worth $2 in gas rewards then?

They list 16 cards that qualify for the promo. If you buy $500 worth of gift cards that are on the list you would get $2.00 in gas rewards. Visa and MasterCard cards aren’t in the online list but the story says they only count if they are bought at the store.

Here’s a link to the full 16 card list-

I made several trips to my local Giant Eagle stores and bought a bunch of the $200 Visa cards (I have not seen any higher amount). The $0.20 is the highest amount they offer, except for the very rare $0.25 per $50 in gift cards (last offered for one day only in August 2016). I buy four Visa cards at a time for $827.80 and receive $3.20 or $3.30 in fuel perks. The free gas more than negates the fees.

What are the fees on these $200 cards? I’ve never seen more than $100 amounts in my local stores, so I’ve mostly written off GE.

My local Giant Eagle stores carry $200 Visa Gift Cards ($6.95 fee) and $100 Mastercard Gift Cards ($5.95 fee). They also carry lower denomination cards as well, but they aren’t worth the fees and hassle to liquidate. Their Get Go fuel stations also carry the Visa and Mastercard Gift Cards, but unfortunately, not the $200 amounts.
