[Expired] Giant Eagle: Save $10 Instantly When Purchasing $150 in Visa Gift Cards

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • In honor of Father’s Day, Giant Eagle is offering $10 instant discount when you buy $150+ in Visa gift cards.

The Fine Print

  • Valid 6/13/19 – 6/26/19

Our Verdict

Seems to be available online as well, though GCGalore says online orders won’t necessarily get fulfilled for those not in the area. System also seems to be giving wacky discount amounts, and without limits. I’m doubtful anything will pan out with the online deal, but the in-store deal looks solid for those in the area.

Yes, still worked in store today, 6/25. It says through 6/26 on the tag at the cards, so if you find them in stock (one GE in my area was out of regular VISA but had variable 5 back) they will work. One per purchase. Find a friendly empty register and do separate transactions on different cards.

It is still available, just that instead of each card -10 it becomes total -10.

Man that’s really annoying – It was working at 3pm eastern but I didn’t have my card with me. Just got in to buy and the savings are 0 no matter how many I choose 🙁

Giant Eagle and Stop n Shop are completely unrelated to each other. Perhaps you were thinking about Giant? Giant and Giant Eagle are also completely different companies.

You did this deal ONLINE, with a Freedom, and you can already see that it coded as grocery and you got the 5x points? Did you get your Fuelperks as well?

I purchase from them online frequently. Mine is an historical DP, not for this specific deal.

When you go to the grocery, the screen will ask you if you want to get 20% off your grocery order and it will show you the dollar amount of the discount. You choose one way or the other.

When you get gas, it will usually approve something like $3.60 off per gallon. I never spend that amount since I just buy the cheap stuff. With $6 in fuel perks, your fill-up will be free.

Did I answer your question?

To add to Tomj’s comments: there are 2 main methods to cash out you fuel perks. You can either redeem for groceries or gas. The grocery savings will max out out at a 20% discount. Giant Eagle recently changed their fuel perks program in March, so I believe that this will take $1.00 in fuel perks. Don’t cash them out this way. If you redeem for a gas savings, you can redeem for up to a free tank of gas. If gas costs $2.50 per gallon, you can redeem $2.50 worth of fuel points for a free tank of gas up to 30 gallons. This is the best method for redeeming points. In my opinion, Giant Eagle has the best fuel savings program in the country and I routinely redeem free gas. Giant Eagle has frequent gift card promotions, so you can rack up free gas quickly.

Can you only redeem it at the Giant Eagle chain of gas stations (I believe they’re called GetGo)?

Buy gas containers. Giant Eagle sell 5 gallon cans for ~$20 or you can buy the DuraMax Flo n’ Go LE Fluid Transfer Pump and 14-Gallon Rolling Gas Can from Amazon for ~$118 in order to maximize your fuel purchase. I am not sure if you store the gas at your home, so this could be a problem. If you have friends and/or family in the area, you could always give and/or sell some to them.

500 perks = 20% off grocery (any size order) or $1 off per gallon (upto 30 gallon fillup). For grocery, 500 perks is the max you can redeem on any order. For gas, you can redeem any amount (making gas totally free). I always use it for grocery since I have an electric car.

T&C says $1k maximum per transaction (online) but it seems I can go through having 13*$200 on my cart – anyone tried it yet?

Not sure if it’s still working, but the site was taking off $10 per card. So 10x $50 was $450. Plus up to $30 in free gas, Plus CC points/miles (finger crossed for coding as grocery, although doubtful). My 20 cards shipped an hour after order, I am in OH.

In the past, I bought a lot of GC online (2-3k) and they did call to verify my info before shipping that amount, but I got nothing for my sub 1k purchase today.

When do fuel perks get credited? I didn’t get any for an order yesterday. In store, they always credit immediately.

I used the Citi double cash but it hasn’t posted. I did get my fuelperks as well. I have 2 BCP’s but didn’t use them on this deal. I am holding them for later. I also used my Chase Unlimited (3%) but it hasn’t posted either.
