To the DOC Community: do all giftcard resale sites not allow you to buy a Starbucks or Dunkin giftcard and apply it to your account balance on your app? Giftcardspread specfically doesn’t allow this (per language on its site when you look up those giftcards) but I can’t figure out why or how it restricts this? Do other sites like Raise also not allow this or is this a GiftcardSpread-specific rule? Many thanks in advance!

Maybe it is the way to prove you use the giftcard when you make a claim ( they added your card to their account so they can track the balance). Btw, I see black market starbucks gc has the same rule. Weird.

I think it is because if it turns out later that the card was purchased with a stolen credit card or a chargeback is done, Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks will shut down your whole account and you will lose the money that you already had in your account also. Therefore, many 3rd party gift card sellers write this in there so if this happens to you, they will not take responsibility for the extra money that you lose when your account gets shut down.It is not that you can’t add it to your account, its just that if you do you are doing it at your own risk.

Jack Jones nailed it. It happened to someone named Peter Volpe after he bought some discount Starbucks cards. The story can be found with a simple Google search.

I have been loading Starbucks into the app for a couple years. cardpool and raise always work fine. I think once I had to print a voucher but otherwise all good.

I submitted an offer to sell on 11/23 and never received a response from GCS. Ended up selling to Cardpool which was very slow to respond as well, but after some prodding finalized the sale.

I have also used CardCash, but their rates are usually lower.
