The Fine Print

  • Expires 5/27/18

Our Verdict

There is an American Express offer for $20 back when you spend $60 or more. Good to combine these two offers. If you add $80 in items to your cart then it will reduce the price to $60 and then you get a further $20 back. Basically $80 in items for $40. I wouldn’t get too close to the $60 threshold though as sometimes items are repriced causing you to drop below the required minimum. That also doesn’t max out the full 25% off. To do that you’d want to spend $120 exactly, you’d pay $90 and then if combining with American Express offer you’d get another $20 back.

I just got a unique-looking 20% off code emailed to me.

I’ve had a few issues with them–mainly due to PetSmart canceling some of my items, which is more of a typical PetSmart issue that a Google Express issue–but I’ll keep shopping with them as long as they keep giving me coupons.

Tried to combine on 04/23 and it wouldn’t let me check out with AMEX using the (SPRING20 Coupon). Removed coupon and I was finally able to check out using AMEX.

Me too. Doesn’t let me check out with both AMEX and coupon. Terrible.

Definitely going to echo the others saying that Google Express is a sh!tshow. Sometimes the orders work fine, other times they don’t, and you have to be VERY proactive. Their CS is much more helpful, responsive, and smarter than the people on Amazon chat (and they hand out credits like candy if you’re polite), but jeez, beyond that, I’m not happy. Two of my orders just didn’t get shipped for well over a week until I contacted them–suddenly one order got shipped, and 2/3 of the other order got shipped in two separate boxes. Of course I had to keep pestering CS to figure out that the last third of that order got canceled. There were no notifications, no tracking, nothing–it was on me to do the detective work. Why did I have to be the one to initiate that? They don’t have the infrastructure in place to actually track and handle things.

Between the random price adjustments and fluctuating sales taxes, the inconsistent deliveries, and the frequent delays, I’m not bothering with Google Express unless there’s a crazy good deal on something I’d buy anyway or if I have a ton of $10+ discount codes.

Mirroring the opinions expressed by others, Google Express is largely a sh!tshow. I placed my first order to take advantage of the 20% off new customer promo with the $20 Amex promo. They adjusted my order below $60, claiming an item was partially OOS, yet the item is still available for immediate delivery when browsing the Express website.

I chatted and did receive another coupon, but it’s such a waste of time trying to meet the $35 free shipping threshold while stacking promotions. Not worth it.

can you purchase items from multiple retailers or has to be from single retailer for the amex offer to kick in?
thanks

They “price adjusted” my order to just below the Amex offer threshold.
Never going to use Google Express EVER again.

It’s $60 in one or more transactions, so buy some salt. Some retailers offer free shipping on small orders, FrequentMiler covered it.

Also, sometimes they cancel items, putting you below the minimum spend for Amex. Happened to me once last year. Add some toilet paper etc to make sure you stay above the minimum spend.
